Convenient location, comfortable rooms, missing some details.
Our room was comfortable and clean and worked fine for the 2 nights we stayed in Salvador. The location of this hotel is very convenient, thought it is at the top of a hill. Right at the bottom of the hill is a whole outdoor promenade with lots of bars and restaurants and live music which was great. Our toilet didn't work super well and the rooftop pool didn't have any lounge chairs. Breakfast was great and the staff was very friendly and helpful. If you're looking for an easy place to explore from and not planning to do a lot of relaxing in the hotel, this is a good spot.
Work in progress
We were lucky enough to get an updated family room but the whole hotel is in desperate need of an update which they are doing. Salvador is a great and interesting City so this is a good enough base for a couple of nights. Staff were very good!
No
This has to be the worst I have ever booked The hotel is old and under going a slow reservation Yes we did get a new room I believe we were the first in this room But All I can say is they - Accor should close it down and renovate and then re open We checked out the very next day Sorry
Simple, but good value for the money
The hotel complex is located slightly uphill, in the middle of Rio Vermelho district. Its surroundings are safe to walk, even at night. The hotel offers a free golf cart shuttle, up- and downhill, however, there is still some distance to climb, which is not very suitable for the walking impaired. There is a variety of dining facilities nearby at Praça da Mariquita, however, they are very simple & their food is rather average. A Bompreço grocery store is located 400 meters from the hotel. Most beaches can be easily reached by bus. After last year’s oil spill, mother nature has done a good job cleaning up all the residues. It is unlikely that you will get any tar stains on your clothing or feet. As a matter of fact, I encountered an even better water quality than at other locations in Brazil. The hotel building has obviously seen several owners who neglected maintenance over the years. At present, it belongs to the Accor chain and is gradually being modernized room by room. You may have to tolerate some hammering and drilling, as well as power blackouts during day hours for a while. However, the remodeled rooms are in a fairly good shape, the furnishing is rather austere but functional and meets the standards of a three-star hotel facility. Not more, not less. The staff is friendly and helpful upon request, but some are not very proactive and seem to mind more their own business, instead of showing a guest-oriented attitude. Breakfast buffet is common Brazilian standard with a good variety of choices, which are pretty much the same every day. Room service at the hotel is o.k., however, unlike other Brazilian restaurants, their portions are not very generous. There is definitely space for improvement. This hotel has the potential to achieve a 4 stars’ rating. At the moment, all you will get is a comfortable 3 stars standard, not more, not less. You will definitely miss all those nice little details which could turn your stay into an outstanding experience. My suggestion to the management: Check out what your competition is doing and try to beat them.
Novotel Salvador Rio Vermelho Stay
I had some problems with my Room since multiple times the bathroom ran out of water (probably around 5 times or more during my stay). I mostly happened during my shower moment and I had to interrupt and call the reception to inform what was happening. Also I wasn't informed the hotel was remodeling by the moment I booked, so sometimes during the morning, it was a little bit noisy. The water in the pool wasn't total clear. The staff and crew on the frontdesk was always very helpful, polite and kind.
