We had lunch at the restaurant at the hotel

We visited Saltzgitter Bad on a beautiful warm sunny day in the summer. We were so happy to find this restaurant on the plaza where we were able to sit outside and enjoy the good weather.
Sitting on the plaza was a great opportunity to enjoy the charm and architecture of the buildings in this historic town.
Our waitress spoke English and was able to help us with the menu selections.
I ordered a baked potato with a delicious sauce and salad. Other family members were also happy with the selection and quality of the food.
The staff was friendly and the hotel was clean and very attractive.
Very Much Improved Since My Last Visit

I have been staying in this hotel many times as I have business with one of the companies in town.
The hotel went through a thorough renovation and looks sharp. One of its advantages is a garage for the car. I was informed that actually they charge for the parking but still, in my opinion, it is worth. No need to drive around looking for a parking place.
At the moment it is the aspargus season and the hotel restaurant holds an aspargus buffet, two days a week.
The restaurant is excellent with excellent service.
In my case, the breakfast was included with a nice choice of cold cts and cheeses, besides the sweet part, that is out of bounds for me. You may even order an omelette if you wish.
My conclusion: I highly recommend and for sure I shall return.
My room faced the market square and still very quiet.
For those that enjoy a good beer and watch sports, I recommend a pub just belowthe hotel, the Taeglicht
Charming exterior, basic rooms.

+: walking distance to shops, restaurant, supermarket. Weekend market during the summer is right outside the hotel in the big square.
+: clean, wheelchair friendly, lots of natural light, but felt a little bit old.
-: I was on the ground floor so I could hear and see a lot of people walking past my room. Not much privacy if you leave the windows and curtains open for sunlight and fresh air.
+: there was a nice restaurant, a parking space for your car, some nice reading lounges, and even a cute old bowling alley.
-: the elevator down to the carpark was tiny (had to squeeze with three people in it). Also wish there was a gym. The corridors also smelled a bit musty. And it felt a tad creepy walking around because the building looks really old.
Charming Tudor style exterior, but the rooms are nothing fancy. Still a comfortable place to stay in.
Nice Stay for a Business Trip

I made reservations some time before my arrival. As I had a late flight to Hannover and, at least, one hour drive to Salzgitter, I contacted the hotel for arrangements regarding a very late arrival and car parking. They did send me detailed information and it worked without flaws.
I have been at this hotel many times in the past and this time I had a very good surprise: the single rooms got bigger with complete renewed bathrooms, a very good wifi, and a superb breakfast.
I highly recommend this location.
