Better places to stay that are still close to Lackland AFB.

We were in town to see our son graduate from Lackland AFB. The 2 stars is for the distance to the base only not for the hotel. First, the young lady was nice at the desk however, there is a AARP sticker on the door and she would not take my discount card because she could not figure out how. I let it go because people were lining up behind me. The room seemed clean however no trash bags in the trash cans. The toilet seat was broken and didn't look clean. I actually cleaned it myself. There was someone's used tooth picks under the sink area. The pool water was green and all the vending machines were broken. The area around the hotel is not the best. Woke up one night to what my husband and I was sure was a gunshot. The security gates were broken also. We have stayed at other County Inns before and have never had an issue. So this was disappointing.
Looks can be deceiving

Online pictures make it look amazing. Coming here is a different story. Had it not been for GPS, you would never know this place is at, where it’s at. The entrance and surroundings are a bit lackluster. Very outdated. The pool and jacuzzi color was a turquoise green and murky like it hadn’t been filtered for a while. Me and my husband chose not to swim in it, which we were very disappointed because we were looking forward to it during these hot summer days. It doesn’t stop there, all the furniture they have in the pool area have stains on them like they’ve been their for years without upkeep. The room we had, as soon as you walked in, this smell of mildew hit you and became even more prominent in the bathroom. I had to use shoes or slippers to walk on the carpet in the room because going barefoot you could feel the dirt from it not being vacuumed or cleaned. Stains all over the carpet, which is an understatement. We had dead bugs just laying out on the carpet too and yes those are dead bugs in the pictures posted! (Mind you I was only allowed to post 9 pictures so their were tons more that I couldn’t add). Their were lord knows what kinds of stains on the walls and on the ceiling. We chose this hotel because of the reviews people left and the pictures from online looked great, but they are surely deceiving. Also, due to the closeness in proximity to Lackland AFB, where my husband was stationed at for training, we thought it would be perfect, which it was location wise, but that’s about it. We also received a note from housekeeping that stated they couldn’t clean our room because “we had our personal items out.” That’s the first time I’ve ever heard that and we’ve stayed at many hotels with our belongings out as it was in this hotel room, and our rooms got cleaned. They supposedly offer you free WiFi, and my husband needed this for his job, and you guessed it, WiFi did not work. After a few nights here, we decided it was best to check out early and check in elsewhere, with a Marriott hotel, about 15 minutes away. I would not recommend this place as a stay, even if it’s close to base. For the money you’d pay here, you’d get a better stay being farther away from base, at a cheaper rate, in a nicer part of town. I think the only upside to this stay was the lady at the front desk, she was kind. Think her name was Berlinda, but that’s about it. This hotel is due for a major renovation if they want the pictures they have on their website to look like the actual thing in person, cuz our stay here was not it and that’s me being nice.

So we stayed 5 days and only had housekeeping the day after we arrived. I had to get fresh towels, toilet paper and tissues. Trash piled up in our room - no fresh coffee/tea for the coffee maker in the room. We were given a handicap room. the problem with that is no counter at the bathroom sink to lay your things out. The shower head sprays straight out instead of downward. If you are going to offer less service, I suggest charging less for the room.

Comfy beds and spacious living space! Wasn’t super clean, but the staff was very friendly! Sister’s room had hair all over the bathroom floors. Easy check in! Somewhat of an inconvenience for location.

The hotel did the best that could be done during the COVID restrictions. All the staff were pleasant and wonderful to interact with for my two week stay. I recommend this hotel for any long term stay and you won't be disappointed. Staff deserving of being singled out for special recognition are Jasmine and Venus for their exceptional efforts on behalf of the hotel. They went above and beyond the norm in helping ensure my stay was splendid.
