The Westin Riverwalk San Antonio is a great hotel very well located close to most important points of interest in the heart of El Alamo and provides beautiful views of downtown San Antonio and the Riverwalk where guests will find a variety of fantastic shopping, nightlife and dining possibilities. It features very comfortable and spacious rooms which have been tastefully decorated as well as excellent facilities. The hotel provides a professional and warm service; it is definitely a good choice to stay in.

Not great for Bonvoy elites... used to more from a Westin!

First the positives - great location! Kayle (trainee at front desk) was very nice but just wasn't able to help much. I was very disappointed with this hotel, this was my first trip with Titanium status, which was very difficult to get. On checking in, I was informed that the really nice suite(s) were vacant but not available for an upgrade, regardless of status. The hotel was a mess with the Riverwalk boat parade that day, no restaurants were available or booked, the hotel refused to help us get a table at their own restaurant. There was no concierge and the front desk just gave us a map of all the restaurants in the area, adding "you won't have any luck getting dinner tonight". I asked once again for a larger room as we had another family traveling with us and it was clear we were going to be packed in one room with a few pizza boxes and were told again that those were only for "contracted" occupancy (whatever that means). Separate and apart from those issues - this property needs an overhaul. That isn't a management problem and they're likely doing the best they can but the rooms are outdated, with some obvious signs of disrepair (see attached pic). Overall, just don't understand why keeping "upgrades" inaccessible helps in any way. I'm also a Hyatt elite member and Globalists automatically get the best, available room in the hotel... period. Time to say bon voyage to Bonvoy!
Valet over delivered!

Robert was an amazing valet. He helped me to ensure my car would be ready early for a meeting. He was so helpful and has the heart of a servant. He even took 2 cups that I needed to toss out. I really appreciate Robert because, as a local visiting my sister who surprised me from out of town, I was over satisfied!
Location, location, location

The location is perfect right on the riverwalk with easy access to the restaurants and entertainment. We had booked two rooms. They upgraded the kids to a balcony room just like ours so the “kids” were really happy. We attempted to do the pool one afternoon and we couldn’t get one chair because all the chair horders. There is a bar located right at the pool and lots of people were taking advantage of that. The pool was literally standing room only. The breakfast service was really slow and the cappuccinos had an odd after taste to them. The balcony rooms were very spacious and the bathrooms were clean. I can’t remember if they were servicing rooms or not in July. We have stayed at so many hotels and brands that I can’t remember. I do know that we always ask to not be near the elevator and our room was right next to the elevator so it was incredibly loud at night and in the morning. And there was a horrible pot smell that was in the hallway pretty much everytime we went out there and tried talking to each others rooms or getting stuff. We complained but they didn’t care. We did arrive early and they would not let us check in much earlier than the checkin time. So pretty much it was a run of a mil hotel they just luck out with location trumping it.
Resaurant Food and Service

For the traveler let it be known that our three day stay provided breakfast food presentation and taste well beyond what is generally expected at a hotel. As lifetime Marriott Titanium Elite members, we do much travelling. The Chef, 'Jimmy' prepared daily omlettes and accompanying side dishes rivaling what would be expected from a personal chef. We also wish to recognize the Maitre de Steve who attended to every detail regarding seating and service. He was a pleasure to interact with and made us feel welcome each day of our stay.
Great location, though amenities/service not to the level of most Westins

I frequently stay at this property (87 nights between 2020 and 2021), which has a splendid location right on the riverwalk but in a part where it's not noisy, so best of both worlds. Easy access to most places. I stay here for convenience. Unfortunately, that sums up what's good about the property with a couple of notable exceptions. The rooms and facilities are quite basic, and the service levels mixed - a few stars make it worthwhile and lets you forget about the generally apathetic crew, particularly at the front desk. I would have switched to an alternate hotel probably a while back were it not for one of the wait staff at the restaurant, Steve. He probably belongs in a 3 star Michelin restaurant, and stands head and shoulders above the rest of the team.
