Oasis from the airport
We will definitely be staying here again. The owners are great hosts, they went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and had the things we need. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and they stay very cool. The restaurant is fabulous and very reasonably priced. You can't go wrong with this place!
The Best Airport Hotel
We own a home in the Southern Pacific Zone of the country and come here every January for our vacation. This always involves at least one night at an airport hotel. Over the past 15 years, we have stayed in at least a half dozen hotels but when we found Trapp Country Inn that was the end of the search. First, it is less than 10 minutes from the airport. Second, it has a beautifully landscaped walled in complex with 8 rooms and a main building with open air dining. It is so tropical and peaceful. The trees are ancient and the pool is beautifully situated. Rooms are very comfortable and we always have a good night's sleep. We love the food for both breakfast and dinner. The couple who own and run it are gracious and kind as are most Costa Ricans. Even in the time of Covid, the place is clean and safe. If you want to have the real Costa Rican experience, stay here!
Highly recommend Trapp Family Country Inn
We stayed for a night in early Nov 2020. The Inn is very close to the airport (like 5-10 min drive) and they arranged transportation for us to pick us up from airport at midnight. The room was beautiful and clean. The inn seems like it is in a beautiful jungle park but is so close to San Jose and the air port. The breakfast was delicious and fresh and the service was outstanding. Very nice Inn.
Super country style hotel not far from the airport
We stayed here for 3 separate nights during a 3 week holiday in January. Our first night was the day we arrived in Costa Rica. We chose it as we needed somewhere close to the airport as we were taking a domestic flight the following day to the Corcovado Peninsula. Our large room on the first floor (no lift) was spacious in a colonial style with lots of storage space in dark wood furniture and 2 very large double beds (very comfortable) with a ceiling fan. Large shower room - sadly no plug for the handbasin. We had a balcony complete with heavy wooden table and chairs overlooking the pool and parts of the garden. There are a couple of basic plastic loungers and chairs around the pool which was a delight to swim in after a flight from the UK and the long wait at CR airport to go through passport control. Lots of birds to spot and hear and there is bird spotting book available from the bar/restaurant. Reasonably good choice of evening meal food which was well cooked and presented. Breakfast was good no choice but we were served lovely fresh fruit, hot food with fried plantain, egg, rice and beans, toast and great tasting coffee We had a luggage weight restriction on our internal flight and we had previously arranged to leave our main cases at the hotel which was accommodated. Our second visit was 3 nights later on our return from the Corcovado Peninsula before an adventure to Tortuguero. We had requested a ground floor room which they provided - it was laid out pretty much the same as the one we'd had on our first night. We had a comfortable evening and night. We had a very early start which meant leaving before breakfast and had hoped to be provided with something to takeaway - maybe some fruit and/or bread/sandwich but were told this was against their policy. When we were having our evening meal we asked if we could order chicken and cheese rolls (these were on the menu with chips etc ) so we could put them in our cold bag overnight ready to take with us in the morning. Rolls were provided as we left the restaurant (they were hot which surprised us somewhat). When we paid for the evening meal they added the fullcost of the rolls (as per the menu price with extras) which we were disapointed about as our booking was for Bed and Breakfast. This is why I have only given an average rating overall. Our thrd and final visit was the afternoon prior to our fight home to the UK. After a longish drive from Manual Antonio - it was lovely to arrive and felt like a little haven, sanctuary after all the traffic on the road. We had a very comfortable evening and night. Plenty of space to park our hire vehicle. We did not explore the area around the hotel on any of our visits so don't know if there are any bars or restaurants within in walking distance . I would recommend the Hotel as a great place to stay close to San Jose airport if you want o avoid the hustle and bustle of the city however, there is the sound of aircraft which, although less frequent, seems to continue throughout the night.
Lovely family run property
We spent 1 night at the Trapp Family Country Inn. I choose it because the grounds were pretty and it was close to the airport. We were met at the airport, arriving a the hotel after 10pm. The room was spacious and colonial in style and decor. We awoke to birds and lovely flowers on the property. The hotelier helped us with taxis to a wildlife rescue/zoo, and then into the city to meet our tour. We had a delicious breakfast and lunch there. The place feels like it is far from the city--until one hears the planes nearby (though no worse than the noise at the Radisson downtown which featured traffic--and no lovely gardens). Comfy bed, large bathroom. No a/c, though we didn't need it. And nice ot have a mini-fridge.
