Decent hotel. Hidden fee.
Decent hotel in a good location but the hidden parking fee is a no for me. It’s not found on their app during booking and customer service and was not helpful with this. Ended up checking out early cause for the price after the daily parking fee I could have stayed somewhere nicer.
Absolute garbage of a hotel/service establishment. Would not recommend for any reason. Here's why: 1) Upon checking in, the hotel staff was friendly. The parking lot was cramp but well monitored (downtown San Diego, so that's expected). The hotel clerk explained to me the procedure for check in, went over a security deposits and charges, and handed me my room key with parking pass. All's fine until checking into the room. Upon walking through the door, I got hit with a waft of bleach and underlying water damage. Looking around, we couldn't find any particular spots of water but it was disgusting. Inspecting the room further, pubic hair was found in the tub (which did not look like it was even clean). Stains were in various places on the carpet. It felt overall disgusting to be there, not to mention the itchy towels and stiff sheets against both beds. 2) The night went fine, visited downtown and came back to sleep fairly early. Within the night, there was a constant rattle from various rooms, people screaming and partying. I eventually had to call the front desk to where a much less accepting staff member responded with "don't worry about it". Needless to say, the problem was not handled for the remainder of the noisy night. 3) A few days afterwards, I was checking my bank statement to make sure my security deposit was returned before noticing over $635.00 GONE! I called within the next hour, to where a discouraging service employee let me know that they've charged me for TWO MATTRESSES. I asked for a refund and was told that nothing could be done. With no notice, rude service, and a just plain awful experience, I would not suggest this hotel..
A Last resort
This was a series of awkward not so pleasent surprises. Due to a lack of transparency on the role of the property's staff and management. Upon arrival had chosen to cancel and cancellation policy wasn't honored, they charged my card without my consent prior to physically checking in with the lobby, and checking my ID. Once I felt forced to stay to avoid any further inconvenience, I was hit with a parking fee and ambiguous parking policy despite the Free Parking announced online, Which I showed proof to the front desk. Then a $100 deposit fee was very unusual and unexpected, again lack of transparency on Baymont by Wyndham Downtown San Diego. Still no response from the property regarding any concerns on my end where is the customer service is an on going question about Baymont San Diego.
Nothing clean burnt holes in sheets. Bathroom tiny sink didn't drain. Lamps had no covers just bulbs. Holes in walls. Wallpaper coming off. Ac didn't work had to open window. No breakfast at all and had to pay for parking 20$
Baymont By Wyndham San Diego week of Oct 12th
Myself , My wife and 2 kids went to San Diego for the week of Oct 12th and we stayed at the Baymont By Wyndham in San Diego. This hotel was bad. To list a few things: Room was to be A none smoking room and room had a strong smoke smell, The carpet was nasty dirty with gunk and yuck all over it and has not been clean in sometime. We all had to wear socks or shoes to walk around the place or we would need to wash are feet none stop before getting into and out of the beds. The beds that was to be queen size was two twin beds and very hard, The parking was $19.00 a day when other places around the area are free to park and the homeless people hanging around outside by the cars you pay $19 a day to park is crazy when there is no security and if you want to just walk out side of the hotel area you are walking into skid row of homeless people in San Diego. If you plan to go to San Diego and stay for any amount of time. Do not put your money into this place. You will not be happy.
