Best front desk staff

Research shows the first person you meet when you walk into a hotel sets the tone for your experience. The first person we met was Rick. He was friendly, courteous and Knowledgeable. He offered practical suggestions to meet our needs. And we had an amazing experience. We ate in the resturant, the food was traditional hotel pricey but good. Our housekeeper,Rosa was kind also. We opted not to use the service but she was eager to relish anything we needed. All with a smile. The really cool part was a few days into our stay, as we passed the front desk, Rick acknowledged us by name. This isn't my first 5 star hotel experience but lately in some hotel 5 star service has been lacking . This hotel lived up and exceeded my expectation of a Westin. That was mostly because of the great service we received. The hotel itself was clean, modern and centrally located. I noticed the staff all had on mask.

One of the best hotel I ever been too!! Especially Savanna at the front desk she help us out so much I will definitely will back!!! Was out for business also also vacation! Definitely want to come visit San Diego again!!

Friendly Check In but Dirty Room

Our check in and staff experience was great however when we got in the room there was trash on the floor from the previous guest. There was also dust thick enough to write with your finger. Now, more than ever, it is important to trust in the cleanliness of the room. If they missed these items we could see, it made me wonder what other areas were not cleaned.

Some good and some bad

First of all I am a titanium lifetime with over 1,300 nights in Marriott properties. So understand what should and should not happen. They have a destination fee, I hate destination fees. Just be honest with the rate. Don't add fees. Bell people are great as was the airport shuttle driver. Room was clean but tired. Old style bathtub/shower, carpets in the hallways and public area are stained. Room was nice but small. Here is the issue. Front desk is a mess. Did the electronic key. You are suppose to be able to skip the front desk. Worked to get on the elevator but would not work on the room lock. Called down to the front desk and they said, " well we sent you an email that it was not working." Told them I never got the email and why have the electronic on your web page? Finally one of the bell desk brought a regular key up to me. Stopped down at the front desk to let them know about the issue and they admitted no email was sent. I then asked about titanium benefits and breakfast. No response for over 1,300 nights. No response on titanium benefits. Okay. What the heck. We will just sit and talk to each other and ignore the paying customers. Customer service, who cares. Let me tell you for a major hotel the options are really limited and expensive. Did have breakfast in the restaurant on one of the days they are open and waitress was very nice. Asked about $10 credit from destination fee. (Did I mention I hate sneaky fees - one supposed benefit to the destination fee is your internet. But as I am suppose to get for free anyway, so where is the benefit?) Cost for Greek yogurt with granola and fruit with a side of toast including tip was $21.32. The destination fee was suppose to allow a $10 credit. Guess what, no $10 credit so dealing with accounting on that for five days. Simply not up to quality standards for a top hotel.
