Weekend Gateway
Great visiting San Francisco and staying at this beautiful hotel. I highly recommend staying at this hotel. Really close to the shopping stores. Great restaurants close by and about 30 to 40 minutes from the Fisherman Wharf.
Don’t come here hungry - this place isn’t really reopened!
COVID is the ongoing excuse for limited service here. This renovated property has everything wrapped in plastic when you come into the room, despite the fact that California has officially reopened. Even your room door is sealed with a sticker. At the same time, guests who are vaccinated do not need masks in the hotel. However, there is no service. The restaurant is closed. The minibar is empty, if you want a minibar item you must scan a QR code to have it brought to you. We are here with the AMEX hotel collection. There is no use for the $100 resort credit, there is no place to eat. There is no room service. Why is this hotel part of the collection? The room is spacious enough, a bit dark as are the hallways. There is a fair amount of noise in the hallway. For some strange reason there are two large screen TVs mounted on the wall. The location is good near Union Square. If this hotel is to have a renewal of sorts now that it has been renovated, they need to operate it as a real hotel. This is ridiculous.
Comfortable yet lacking
We arrived at noon and they were ready for us being that they had been texting me to know our arrival time and for us to know the Covid protocols. The room seemed clean until I found a mask in the trash, leftover food in the fridge and a coffee pod in the machine. I called the front desk and let them know. They were accommodating and nice and said they would send housekeeping immediately. We came back to the room and the leftover food was still there 🤣. The walls are thin as paper and you can hear everything. People in the other room, people in the halls. That’s annoying. The bed was very comfortable and we slept great. Shower is nice and amp. Temperature got tricky but we figured it out. I don’t know if I would stay here again...
Stayed 3 nights in a lovely room
We had never stayed in San Francisco but knew the hotel was being renovated so we weren't surprised to see ( and hear ) the construction all around us. When we checked in, the front desk staff upgraded us to a suite ( which was just lovely ) and put us in the "inside" so the clamour from the construction would be less obtrusive ( it was.). The room was very large with plenty of seating, a big screen TV and a comfortable bed, so we were very happy. Our only issue was the woefully inadequate lighting...there were only lamps in the room and they were poor at best...once the sun went down, we were struggling with the lack of light. I would suggest checking your room for light sources before getting too settled. Overall we had a very nice stay and the staff are exceptional. Ask for Albert at the door :)
Outstanding Service!!!
I've just completed a three day business stay at the Clift Royal Sonesta. Upon check in the front desk staff were super friendly and accommodating making sure to appoint the best room available. (love that!) Rooms are spacious and well stocked with luxury bath products and full mini bar. Most notable of my stay, was the concierge person, Steve Edmondson. Steve went above and beyond to help me download a presentation on my computer, print presentation materials, all the while striking up a lovely conversation about our personal travels abroad. So although I was there on business, I felt like I had a friend who had my back. I can't tell you how much I appreciate the extra effort, in this case a little went A LONG WAY to make my stay absolutely perfect! Other notables, beautiful bar, great food selection, bartenders very attentive. I'll definitely be back! Thank you Clift Royal Sonesta you guys knocked it out of the park!
