Lovely Old Hotel
I enjoy this hotel for a quick, easy "country" getaway from San Miguel de Allende. Rooms are spacious and clean, pool is lovely. Not much close, though, so if you go, don't expect to leave the hotel for anything - there is nothing close.
Pretty oasis but awful staff and terrible policies
Terrible experience in this hotel. It was my father-in-law’s birthday. My wife’s family had been going for years to enjoy the pool and the bar before the management changed. We went to order drinks and sit in the beautiful green are that they have. Unfortunately my wife and I had an online meeting that same day with our bosses. We go to the reception desk to ask if we can sit in their computer room so that we can sit in a quiet are. The lady then tells us that we can but we have to pay 600 pesos per person to use that space. We told we were customers and we in the green area. She then proceeds to tell us that to consume drinks in that we also have to pay 600 per person and they whoever let in the yard should not have let in there without charging us. We were confused because previously the tables had been part of the restaurant. Apparently with the new management we would have to pay to sit in the area with grass. On top of that had to disconnect from our meeting because we were asked to leave. We had to drive ten minutes down the road before we could be within cellphone range where we could use our LTE.m for the meeting. Awful policies. Awful treatment of paying customers. The prices were extremely high. Terrible terrible experience. I guess it wouldn’t be so bad if you were a guest in the hotel, but even the. The prices are high for what it is.
Quiet Hacienda family weekend near San Miguel
I visited here 20 years ago with my father. I remember swimming in the thermal pool during the afternoon rain, and when the rain stopped, a big rainbow appeared. I wanted to bring my family here as my father passed away last year. My son immediately fell in love with the place - big grassy grounds and the thermal pool you can jump in from 7am to 10pm. He demanded that next time, we come back for two weeks! I later discovered that this Hacienda was originally in the hands of a family I know in San Miguel de Allende. They told me that back in the day, they grew alfalfa and had sheep and horses here. If you want to experience SMA during the day (there are free shuttles), but have a quiet and in nature experience in the mornings and evenings, this is your place. It's not the most modern or most luxurious, but if you are looking for a quaint hacienda experience and abosorbing the beautiful nature around San Miguel at an affordable price, this is your hotel.
Relaxing, but far too far from downtown
We booked this hotel as it said it was 500 meters from city downtown. This was not true. In fact, it was about 20 minutes driving away. They have shuttles. Food is great, rooms were clean - a little more electric plugs would be welcome, though. The thermal pools are amazing - really hot water. There is no cool pool, so if you’re feeling warm, this may not be so refreshing. Hotel also have horse rides for free - they say it takes 1 hour, but it was over after 30 minutes. Great for families.
Relaxxxx!
Off season made this location the most relaxing vacation we have taken in a long time. Few crowds and attentive staff. The grounds a neatly kept. Pools are great...but hot(thermal waters) Wish had them in Wisconsin about January. Restaurant excellent food and because there were not alot of guests there was no buffet except Dia de las Madres. The food was better when ordered from the menu versus the buffet. Plan of lounging by the pool until about 3pm, take free hotel shuttle to SMA see the sights and have dinner in town worked out so well for us. Didn't feel we were missing out because we weren't in SMA.
