Nestled away on the cool Escondido coast, you'll be transported to a paradise away from the hustle and bustle. Fall in love with this hidden gem and enjoy days of whale watching, snorkeling, scuba diving, and surfing. We're a real surfer's paradise here! It may be called the Hidden Port, but Puerto Escondido is a popular hang out, right on the beach. Breathtaking ocean views with a surplus of water activities, it's easily the chillest place in Mexico. Not only are the beaches top of the line, Escondido is a food lover's paradise with plenty to choose, from mole to chapulines, if you're brave.

Overpriced, bland, rude server
Reviewed 29 november, 2021
Stopped in for lunch and was so grateful we did not book here as planned initially. Service staff were insanely rude, our food did not come with several items the menu stated, and we could not locate someone to ask for them. It was not busy, the menu looked good, expensive but that is common for the beach. Food was bland and portion of my falafel bowl was 5 times smaller than the amazing falafel dinner we had shared at El Sultan the previous night. Unspiced and thrown together with zero care. Got the check and 16% gratuity already included, I am in this industry and 20% is my minimum, but the bill was slammed down on the table and I couldn't bring myself to leave more. I have never sought out to write a negative review, but this was a very poor experience.
Avoid the First Floor Huts!

My wife, my dog and I stayed in Selina for one month (half in Sayulita and half in Puerto Escondido). Overall, the stay was great. Good vibe, good restaurants, stylish spaces. I do have specific recommendations for Selina Puerto Escondido (I already sent the one for Selina Sayulita): 1. COWORK. Actually check who goes into the cowork space. When I was there half of the people just crashed and were using the available space / Internet bandwidth. It is not that I’m being selfish, but that it is unfair with those who actually paid for the cowork service. 2. SAFETY. Get a direct contact with a hospital / ambulance and teach your personnel to contact them. One day a guy passed out in the middle of the restaurant and the staff had NO IDEA what to do. Apparently they started looking for an ambulance but it never came. Other guests had to help and took the person to the hospital themselves. It is unacceptable not having a direct contact with a hospital knowing that in Mexico getting an ambulance is not as easy as calling the 911. I’m Mexican / live in Mexico and know that for a fact. 3. NOISE. Selina sold me a nice place to work remotely for a month and yoga /meditation classes in the mornings. This is what you offered me and I accepted / paid for. However, you assigned me to a room in the first floor knowing you have DAILY PARTIES AND EVENTS UNTIL 2-3 AM. Of course my family and I couldn’t sleep the first night. The next day I complained and the staff (Rebecca) was pretty helpful, sending us to a room in the third floor. HOWEVER, eventually the staff (Yessenia) threw us back to the same noisy room under the false promise of finishing the parties at 11 / 11:30 PM. These were all lies and AGAIN I HAD TO STAND A PARTY UNTIL 2 - 3 AM. Again my family and I couldn’t sleep that night. Of course I directly complained with the bar at night, but the staff (Mariano) told me the lobby had no control over the bar and that they were continuing the party as usual. The next day I complained again. The staff (new member) assigned me to three other rooms during my stay so I didn’t have to go back to the first floor and the noisy room. Two rooms were nice, one was a tipi below the category of room I paid for. In total I changed rooms 5 times. It’s not that I don’t like partying, it’s just that Selina sold me a place to work and relax and knowingly gave me something different. I say knowingly because members of the staff told me this was a pattern. Also because more guests of the hotel we talked to shared our complaint.

Stayed here for three nights with my girlfriend. One of the most beautiful hostels I’ve ever stayed at. Unreal views of the ocean, plus amazing two pools, and a rooftop bar. Did the mezcal tasting with Jonathan, an absolute blast as well. Highly recommend.
Avoid the surf club at all costs
Reviewed 8 june, 2021
The Selina itself is not bad at all but please avoid the surf school at all costs. One of the worst experience I have ever had and they refused to refund the classes that I didn't even use. This made me leave, and I recommend steongly surftravelfriends if you are looking for cheaper and largely better surf classes, you can even book a stay there.
