Quarantined at Icon hotel

Reviewed 8 august, 2021

I want start by saying this hotel is beautiful and is worth visiting for the rooftop bar and the chic style. I quarantined here for 5 days in April. The rooms were clean and food was mostly good. The staff wasn’t very welcoming at first. I was exhausted and overwhelmed with everything that was going on with the pandemic. You would think they would be kind and try to get you into a room. I had a paid reservation here for at least 5 hours before I arrived. This was a last minute thing for every traveller that day. The staff member on duty waited about 3 hours to finally assign us a room. The excuse was that the reservation didn’t come through yet, which made no sense. I see people going through the same thing as us checked in already. I didn’t understand the concept of making a paying customer wait in the lobby for hours. He should have checked us right in and took care of it then, everyone would have been happy. At check out I gave my cc details once again and they handed me my deposit back. Later on that week everyday Im getting emails from the same staff member claiming it wasn’t paid. I had no idea what was going on. I also sent them a bank transfer after the fact since there cc machine wasn’t taking our credit cards. Which wasn’t our fault! They need to communicate better and accommodate guests better.

Solid 4 star hotel but some issues with hot water, no room service food and a couple of very odd lapses in service

Reviewed 23 may, 2020

My husband and I stayed in an executive room for 5 nights in January-February 2020 while holidaying around South America. Positives: - a massive fresh, clean and modern room with nice views - good breakfast buffet - good wifi - friendly staff, except for the breakfast staff who were a bit aloof. - within walking distance to the metro station. We Ubered a lot, and this worked fine. (Taxi drivers, however, struggled, to locate the hotel for some reason.) - a nice cocktail bar on the rooftop. Negatives: - we had repeated issues with lack of hot water in the shower. Not acceptable. - we had to ask four times to get our laundry picked up. - no room service for breakfast, lunch or dinner. We were travelling for 3 months and sometimes you're just too tired to venture out for food. Had this been a business trip, I'd had been absolutely appalled as I tend to have room service dinner so as to get a moment's rest and solitude. Simply inexcusable not to provide this service. - music from the cocktail bar carried into our room one night, necessitating earplugs (we were on the highest floor). - the cocktail bar is, understandably, very popular with locals. While I fully support the hotel also providing a space for locals, there should have been some tables (as well as sun loungers during the day) exclusively reserved for paying hotel guests, because it was quite difficult to grab a spot in the relatively small area both during the day and evening. (The hotel appeared to sell daytime pool passes to non-guests.) - about to check out, we called the concierge to ask someone to help us and come pick up our luggage. To our surprise, they informed us that this service was not provided (?!) and that they'd had to ask for permission from someone higher up to send someone to help us. I thought it was a joke at first, it sounded so absurd. When we checked in, there was a bellboy who automatically took all our luggage so making a big show about providing this when checking out was just very odd. All in all, however, a solid four-star hotel.

First time visiting Santiago, didn’t know where to book. Thought this hotel looks nice in the pictures so we booked. Very happy with this hotel. All the staff have been very nice and helpful. We have been assigned a corner room with windows on both side, beautiful. The jacuzzi spa and roof top bar are both amazing. Had dinner at the restaurant on our last night, great food and it is not overpriced like most hotels. If we come back to Santiago, would definitely stay here again. Thank you everyone working in the hotel making our stay so enjoyable!

Bad business bad service

Reviewed 2 march, 2020

This is the 5th time I stay at this hotel, as it is comfortable and very close to my office in Santiago. Rooms are ok, gym is really bad. But the terrible thing is the food service; they have a restaurant but room service only after 11:00 PM, which is irrational. The restaurant service, if you want to call and pick up an order for your room is awful, they forget orders and never call you back. It could be a pretty decent property but... convenience, service are not in the menu at all!
