Quinta da Comenda

Dating from the period before the foundation of Portugal, Quinta da Comenda was owned by D. Teresa, mother of the first king of Portugal, D. Afonso Henriques. Subsequently it was donated to D. Raimundo, who in turn donated it to the Order of St. John of Jerusalem, later Order of Malta who had just installed in Portugal.
