Old hotel not worth the price
Opinión escrita el 19 de septiembre de 2020
One night stay, hotel is so dated, bathroom is from the 70’s. We had requested 2 renovated rooms, just got one, Would not recommend. They charge more for waterfront view. Not impressed, even though the chamber lady tried to help us change rooms.
Customer service nightmare

Things that were good: -Location by the beach -mini fridge works Things that were ok but not deal breakers: -Dated decor...like 1975 -Air conditioning did not work -No ventilation in bathroom -Some stains on carpet -Some slightly broken furniture -gave us wrong room upon check in, given a proper room within 10 minutes Terrible things: -computer broken through entire 4 day stay. Check in took 40 minutes. Had to fill out a paper registration card. -wifi very unreliable. It would work for ten minutes then not work for hours. I tried my spouse's phone, he had the same issue with the internet. -on day 3 of 4, we left our uncleaned room around 3 pm and returned to our room around 830 pm to find the door WIDE OPEN and all of our personal belongings visible. The cleaning had been done and beds made. Obviously someone was in our room after we left and left the door open. I went down to the front desk. They said they would investigate and contact the manager. They said they would call me on my hotel phone. No one called that evening. In the morning we checked out and the staff blamed the open door on a new staff member's first day. If that is true, then supervision amd training is non existent. You don't have to be a professional to know you don't leave a hotel room door wide open after you are done cleaning. The lady at check out immediately said perhaps I was the one who left it open by accident as that end of the hall has a breeze. Seriously? I pay money to stay at this hotel, your staff makes a serious security error and the first response is to try to blame the customer? Deplorable. We closed the door to our unmade room around 3 pm. When we came back, the room was fully made up and cleaned, and the door wide open. Check out took a while as they had lost my registration card. Computer still broken. They are happy to take full payment for providing a 2 out of 10 accomodation and terrible customer service. Will never stay again. I advise all who read this to stay far away!!!!!!
Smoking policy issue plus minimal sound proofing.

I really wanted to give this hotel a good review. The staff are helpful, the rooms large and overlook the waterfront, and the funky 70s bathrooms are unique (ours was in great shape.) But this hotel allows smoking on the shared balcony that runs all along the front of the hotel. Even with the door and window closed smoke gets into your room. And since the hotel doesn’t have A/C, closing the window means a stiffling room. There is also a noise problem, partly from the above mentioned balcony, partly from the paper thin walls. Hearing my neighbour peeing is more intimacy than I like! Not to mention overhearing their medical adventures and family problems. Earplugs help when sleeping but I shouldn’t have to wear them or headphones in my room whenever I want some quiet time. The price is great. The location is fantastic. But I can’t recommend this hotel.
I won’t stay here again

This was intended to be a two night stay. I was alone the first night and my child was joining me the next. I did a late night check-in around 9-10pm. The desk clerk was kind, professional and processed me in a timely manner. The lobby was nice, but the elevator and stairs were both very small and old. The hallway is also small with musty carpet and there were beer empties in the hallway and many by the ice machine. My room was very clean, but very outdated. The view is beautiful here. I didn’t get the opportunity to go to the restaurant. I was in my room long enough to go to bed when I hear a couple of men in the hall being loud, laughing and sounded as if they couldn’t find their rooms as you could hear they were trying to open several doors. They then tried mine and to my surprise their key OPENED MY DOOR!!!! Luckily I had the chain across and I shut the door on them. I called the front desk immediately. She apologized, but needless to say I didn’t sleep that night. Luckily I managed to find another hotel the next day as everything was booked in town for a big tournament.
MY PLACE IN SEPT ILES
Opinión escrita el 10 de novembre de 2018
This was a business trip to a mining, but also summer seaside, town and thus the hotel met all expectations and I would absolutely stay there again. Although the decoration and fittings are a bit worn the hotel is presently undertaking a renovation project. As per Quebec tradition the restaurant exceeded expectations and there was no need to eat outside. For those visiting Sept Iles in the summer this hotel is on the waterfront with lovely views and a balcony to sit outside and enjoy.
