Wonderful B&B, gracious hostess, near Pont-du-Gard
Opinión escrita el 30 de Septiembre de 2014
Les Aires Passageres is a B&B in the tiny Provencale town of Sernhac that does not have seem to have much going for it – except the charm of small French towns in Provence. But the best thing this one-pizzeria-stop town has to offer is LOCATION (aside from the delightful owner, Cathy). It is just a few minutes’ drive away from the magnificent Pont du Gard. You should NOT go to this gite (French for B&B) and neglect to see the stunning Pont du Gard.
The other thing that made this place special was Cathy Cadenet, the owner and a very gracious, funny, down-to-earth, and artsy hostess. Cathy’s artistic touches were evident in all the little colorful and whimsical (but not cloying) touches in the rooms and the common areas of the gite. Her artistic bent is reflected in the photos and wall-hangings. Her personality is strong, very warm and welcoming. She was concerned about us because of the Air France strike, which made it unclear if we would be able to get there. Cathy sent an e-mail to us the day before to make sure we were coming.
She would love to get more American visitors, which I think she well deserves. The only impediment may be the language barrier. My French is pretty good, so I had no trouble, and Cathy is definitely trying to communicate with English speakers, but if you can’t communicate very well in French, remember to bring a dictionary.
When you see the entrance gate to the gite from the small street (which is a little hard to find), you may think you picked the wrong place, but when Cathy opens the gate and lets you into the very spacious grounds and garden, you won’t regret your choice. The grounds are lovely. There are lots of fig trees and even a pool (it was September so a bit too cold for my wife and me to swim; and besides there was so much to do in terms of sight-seeing). But we could have just enjoyed staying in the garden for hours.
Our room was quite spacious. We chose the room with one double bed and it had a nice view of the garden. The bathroom was attached to the room, separated by a sliding, frosted glass door. We had one minor complaint – the shower. It was virtually impossible to keep the water from slightly flooding the bathroom floor because the shower was strangely configured. In our room, at least, the shower curtain was attached to a fan shaped metal piece above, and the contraption didn’t keep the water inside the shower area. But that was a small inconvenience. (One other issue was the spotty—usually non-existent—WIFI service. That might have been a result of the rain.)
The kitchen is located in the upstairs of the B&B. It is light, airy, colorful (Cathy’s artistic flair) and – best of all – it is a full-sized kitchen, so you can store perishables in the fridge. Cathy also lets you use the toaster. The kitchen (with adjoining patio) is a nice place to chat with Cathy and the other guests. We had a nice continental breakfast featuring home-made jam.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this gite, especially if your travels take you anywhere near the Pont-du-Gard.

This Gites is located between Arles and Avignon in a very quiet little village. The rooms are comfortable and spacious. The pool is wonderful and hidden in an orchard of apricot, fig and peach trees. All organic and the owners have over the years made a real effort to make the Gites as sustainable as possible.
The only tiny minus point is that some of the rooms are on the street side and that the WIFI connection is fickle, so working is out of the question (this may in fact be a plus point!).
We're so glad we found this treasure!

Les Aires Passageres was the perfect place for us, being convenient to all the places we wished to visit, incl. Uzes, Orange, Pont du Gard, Collias and Nimes. In the airconditioned groundfloor accommodation, our large room had a very big comfortable bed, with view of cobbled courtyard & trees. Decor of the roomy bathroom was stunning, with big fluffy towels! All the furnishings were tastefully chic and new. Breakfast was served by our delightful hostess upstairs, where we could access a kitchen, sitting room and balcony. Loads of tourist information was provided. Parking was onsite. We used the swimming pool daily.
Spotless, modern, friendly accommodation in a tiny historical village. Great value! Perfect!
