More about the hotel
Five Day stay was good
My wife and I stayed for 5 days and found the room and service very good. The made to order breakfast was a treat each morning. The hotel staff was very helpful to us to make our stay more enjoyable. We recommend others to stay at this location.
We love staying at the Homewood Suites by Hilton.
The people that work there are great women, like Romonia and many more. The suite is great because it has everything we need being away from home for a month. Are house is being fixed from water damage and we hope that by Christmas we will be home.
Not up to Hilton standards
Upon arrival I had to wait until front desk staff completed their discussions about some room issue with housekeeping. Once acknowledged I was provided a room that had not yet been cleaned. Key wouldn’t work on 2nd room provided and 3rd trip back upstairs to an ‘upgraded suite’ revealed a room that smelled of stale cigarette smoke. Several stains on the walls, well worn furnishings with drink rings and sticky substance on table. Something white ( possibly spackling or caulk) was dried in several places on the carpet indicating very little effort in cleaning the room. In other Hilton properties, cleaned and sanitized stickers have been placed on the doors once a room had been serviced to assure the guest extra sanitizing efforts were made. This location had none. It left me with zero confidence that the room had been cleaned and sanitized properly therefore I chose to leave in search for another Hilton property. The front desk receptionist was accommodating but couldn’t make up for failure with lack of housekeeping standards.
Power out
Hurricane Laura left us in the dark and it was too hot to stay home. We found that Hilton Garden just got power back so we stayed three days. The staff was great and were helping evacuees from Lake Charles feel at home. We became friends with some of them as we were away from home too. Great place to stay even though we live nearby.
Not that clean
I chose a Hilton specifically because of their new cleaning policies for the pandemic. I called the hotel and asked them what their mask and cleaning policies were. They said that all employees are masked and guests are required to be masked in the hallways. They were cleaning with lysol products and disinfecting the entire room. Not true. The employees all had masks on, but they were not covering their mouth and nose AT ALL. They were around their chins or hanging off their ear etc. The guests did a better job than the employees. In our room there was a soft sided footrest with a table top over it. When we removed the table top so we could put our feet on the foot rest, there were white stains all over it that looked like....well you can imagine. There was also a dirty mask under the bed. There was a piece of a cracker behind the bathroom door. I would never stay here again. Ever.
