Great staff and unique property

This hotel is close to the hospital where my husband had major surgery. My anxiety caused me to make some mistakes that required staff assistance to correct. I received the necessary assistance and support from respectful, understanding receptionists at different times. Kaylee, Emily, and Ashley could not have been more helpful!
Outstanding in every way

I can't say enough about this hotel, but I'll try. First - the hotel itself, inside an historic building that has done time as a synagogue, and later as a theater, is a delightful combination of elegance and quirkiness, from the stained glass in the lobby to the silver rotator dial phones in the halls. The hotel is centrally located, convenient to the University and the hospitals, as well as pretty much any other reason you might come to Syracuse. It is a very short distance from Rt 81, and not far from interstate 90 as well. My room was not large, but felt quite spacious due to the 18 foot ceilings and the floor to ceiling arched windows. The room was spotlessly clean and smelled fresh without any underlying chemical odors. The bed was super comfortable and gave me the best sleep if had in a while. The bathroom was elegantly tiled and supplied with everything you could hope for There was a fridge in the room but no coffee maker. On the other hand, coffee, tea and hot chocolate is available 24/7 in the lobby. The free breakfast was more than adequate. It's all grab and go with a microwave to heat up hot food, which is what you might expect during a pandemic, and included not just pastries and bagels but hot and cold cereal, Belgian waffles, breakfast sandwiches yogurt, and fruit. The staff was outstanding - all competent and friendly from the lobby staff to housekeeping, all happy to answer questions and assist cheerfully. I want to give a special shout out to Kayleigh and Ashley on the checkin desk for making me feel warmly welcomed. They were quite competent and knowledgeable, of course, but their cheerful friendliness made me feel immediately comfortable and at home.In the morning Emily checked me out most cheerfully, then proceeded to assist another guest whose room chair didn't work for her. Emily had her try out various lobby chairs until one .worked, and arranged for a chair like that to be brought to the guest's room. The whole time she acted like it was a privilege to help - so different from some hotels where the guests are made to feel like a bother. This hotel has some quirks that I found to be part of its immense charm, but that might not work for someone who prefers a more standard cookie-cutter hotel. But it has everything you would need for a thoroughly enjoyable stay.
