I've been I other Rius before and never got disappointed but this one was very disappointing actually just for one reason: food. Except that can not complain about anything, especially staff is very friendly, smiling and helpful. So whats wrong with the food? My husband is Turkish and because of religion rules he can not eat pork and I have allergy for sea products and gluten. I'm not saying that you can never find a list of ingredients (which is normally everywhere in 5* hotels) but most of the time we couldn't even find cards showing is that fish or pork or chicken or what. First days tried to ask help but nobody understood English well enough to answer, later just got bored and tried to choose food according to smell. In the end spent 3 days from 12 I the room because of my food allergies. I understand that most of the tourists are Americans and eat pork but come on show some respect for vegans, vegetarians, allergic people and so on. On the other hand drinks are awesome and it's a great advantage that staff are serving you everywhere, around the pool, in the evening wherever you choose to sit even while you are relaxing in the pool somebody will come and suggest you a drink.

My husband and I visited this location for our 30th wedding anniversary Nov 2020 and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Even in the midst of the pandemic, we felt so safe there. Although they had to limit some of the extras, there was plenty to do and we felt well taken care of. The location is beautiful. The rooms are well appointed and comfortable. The staff is so friendly and attentive. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we want to bring our entire family next year.

What makes this resort stand out are the people who work and manage it. We spent 9 days here in early November. Ruben the head chef, Estaban the restaurant manager, Maria the public relations manager all make this a fantastic hotel. There is one person who stands out and goes way above and beyond and that is Miguel. He works in the lobby lounge and is by far the best host you will come across. All the staff works very hard but this man has a love for his job and a love for working with people and it shows. The food was very good and if there was something you wanted that was not out at the buffet or other restaurants all you have to do is ask. I would return to this hotel and would recommend that you give it a try, you wont be sorry. Please get to know the staff who work here, they are more than willing to go out of their way to make your vacation a great one.

The RIU brand was new to me and was pleasantly surprised and pleased with the resort's overall appearance and cleanliness. The staff was always very helpful, and especially Miguel in the lobby lounge was great! The rooms and property are well maintained, and the cleaning staff is always on the ball. The food is decent, not great, but most resorts are not where you go to have Michelan star experiences anyway. Only unfavorable experience was the free shuttle from Cancun airport. If we would have known that it would take roughly 3.5 hours to reach the resort then we would have booked our own transport. We must have been the first flight to land for the large bus because we spent almost 1.5 hours traveling back and forth between terminals to pick up more people before leaving the airport grounds. When we reached Playa, of course we ended up being the last resort to be dropped off. Understandably RIU would try to fill the bus before leaving the airport, so if you want to head to resort right away after landing then recommend booking your own transport. We booked our own transport back to Cancun and prices were reasonable.
Perfect in everything

Great modern room with a real wifi ! Beach is long and beautiful. Ocean is warm. Water is clear. Bar service on the beach and wifi Restaurants are good and no reservation required. Evening shows are ok Can't find anything that could be improved except for ambiance music that is missing in most of the restaurants
