The hotel is beautiful, the lobby is stunning, food is delicious and plentiful, the Italian and Steakhouse were my favourites. Pools, rooms and beach are spotless, overall a fab place to stay! Food/Drinks- I had to laugh out loud when I read somebody slating the food here. You actually cannot ask for more variety or choice. There is a huge buffet restaurant, another one by the pool for lunch a small snack bar, a Steakhouse, Asian, Mexican and Italian also. Everything I had was tasty. Plenty of choice for drinks and very limited queing most of the time. Staff- The staff make this place. Special shout out to Viktr on the entertainment team and Diego for Riu fit, both of whom really made our stay amazing. Santos on the pool bar and many waiters were also great too! The bar guys do a great job and made my head spin often serving 2 or more people at the same time to keep the queues down. And working all day with a mask on must be so unbearable in the heat. Entertainment- There is always something to do, the beach dance and evening night/ show for the 25th Riu anniversary was brilliant! We were told that this time is low key as they also have a proper beach party and a weekly foam party which had to stop due to covid, so I only envision this getting better and better as more restrictions lift! Nightly shows are usually good, we loved the Kahoot quiz though they were often always centered around Riu. The shows varied from a tenors night, to a dance show, Micheal Jackson, ABBA so something for everybody. As the Disco at Tequila was closed they would have a nightly disco just for an hour until about 1 which we really enjoyed. Rooms- Good- Super clean and lovely rooms. Fridge and optics filled up and mine faced a jungle area where I could watch all the stunning wildlife including wild Howler Monkeys! Bad- Upon arrival I had to make no less than 3 trips back to reception as my door key wouldn't work. First time fine it happens but by the second and third time's and a long travelling day I was getting annoyed. Finally sent somebody down to change the lock. The day after I had an issue with the loo blocking and 2 subsequent issues with the safe. I didn't mind as these things happen the only thing that annoyed me was having to stay in the room for the safe guy who was late both times (30 mins and then 15mins second time) annoying when u have to sit in your room waiting....a call to reception finally got them to me both times. I found the beds too firm for my comfort. Noise/Guests - I have to agree with what others have said having 250 American students in the lobby made it feel more like a college campus and I hope management will take into consideration other guests opinions here before having another booking like that again. Overall it's a brilliant place with some amazing staff! Probably one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in and I'll definatly be back!
No where near 5*

I cannot see how this hotel is 5*. It's a nice hotel but we could of gone to a nice hotel anywhere. We wanted a relaxing holiday in Mexico in a great hotel. This being 5* listed, we thought this was the one. Instead it has been like a trip to Ibiza or Benidorm. Woken up every night apart from one night between 01:00 and 02:30 by drunks, literally shouting at the top of there voice. The hotel rooms need updating, there like a 3*. Cleaners was excellent. Food is repetitive and pretty much the same every night. We paid £1100 to stop here which is very basic, 2 good nights of entertainment. We could of paid an extra couple of hundred more and went back to the grand Serenis which was out of this world when we went in 2019. The second riu weve stayed in now and we wont be doing it again. If your a group and want to get hammered, this is the hotel as i dont think the security does much. Not our cup of tea

Fantastic resort, very friendly and accommodating staff!!! 10/10 would definitely recommend staying here. Great location right on the beach, tons of different pools, bars, and restaurants right on campus, and even a ton of included activities on the beach-kayaks, volleyball courts, and much more!
Loved our stay at Riu!

We stayed at Riu Yucatán as part of our company incentive trip - the staff was friendly & aimed to serve! Food buffet is plentiful & very good - particularly the Asian restaurant. The staff helped run entertainment: volleyball games, dodgeball, casino night, etc. Cleaning staff did a great job clearing tables and getting sand out of our hotel room. Thanks again!
