Good but without charm or character

5 for the location, it's a nice view of the lake, the rooms are clean but avoid the garden rooms. I also found the common areas too tight for the number of guests. 2 for the service & unfriendly staff. Food is good, and restaurant staff are friendly but the receptionists were a nightmare to deal with.
Love this family run hotel

On Lake Atitlan there is a special place Arca De Noe that is run by the most wonderful couple, Pedro and Paulina. There are fabulous meals made by Chef Domingo and the view is magnificent. The rooms are comfortable with gardens all around. You can learn Spanish there although they speak English, they have language instructors if you want to take classes there. Pedro can take you on beautiful nature hikes around the lake. He can arrange day trips to markets and hot springs. Very reasonably priced. Worth a visit. The village of Santa Cruz is special.

So beautiful place to stay, very nice staff and wonderful room and such a beautiful garden. And just by the water which is very nice and clean. The view of the volcanos and the lake is breathtaking from the sun chairs!
A Wonderful Hotel

My wife and I stayed here for 9 nights in January 2019 and will be coming back in 2020 for sure. We stayed in one of the lakefront bungalows which are right on the water, set in a beautiful garden, with an unparalleled view of the Lake. The bungalows are spacious and well-designed. The hotel is located near the dock for easy transfers and access to the tuk-tuks to visit the village of Santa Cruz on the top of the hill (and the excellent Cecap restaurant there). Paulina and her staff (shout-outs to Rosa, Andrees mayor, Andreeus menor, Margarita, Manuela and Rosa) were very helpful accommodate our every need and cleaned the bungalow whenever you request it. The chef in the restaurant is very accomplished and the 90 quetzal set dinner is always worth the price if you have a big appetite (but we didn't every night). The view from the restaurant is lovely and the vines planted attract hummingbirds in great numbers. Santa Cruz is quiet and laid-back but there are plenty of activities available: hiking, swimming, kayaking, stand-up paddling, visits to other towns on the lake by launch, studying at the Santa Cruz Spanish School. There is noise in the bungalows until 9 p.m. from the Free Cerveza Hostel, so if you want to retire before then bring some earplugs. Don't let the comments about spiders or insects disturb you, we saw none at all except in the garden. We can't wait to go back next year.
Nice seating by the lake

Is a review of the restaurant! We have some drinks before taking the boat back to Panajachel. Drinks are reasonably cheap, but there aren't many choices. The seating is facing the lake. Friendly staff and they have free wifi as well, just asked the password and they're given it to you.
