Perfect getaway for New Year's Eve

Reviewed 7 january, 2022

Iguana Perdida is perfectly perched right on the shores of Lake Atitlan, and the staff was delightful. We met the owners and the kind, helpful staff they've collected and loved the friendly atmosphere among the guests. The deluxe room was fantastic, with its own bathroom, balcony with views and its own hammock--all for a very reasonable price. Wish we'd stayed the whole time at this property.

Magical place! I stayed here for 8 nights. 5 nights in Arriba Payasu which is A-frame private room with porch. It was comfortable overall but a bit loud at times and open holes in corners for crawlers to come inside. I moved to Luna cabin with private bath which was super comfortable! Lush foliage everywhere! Both rooms had convenient electrical outlets and nice lighting. The food and drink in the restaurant was consistently great! Don’t miss Saturday BBQ! I recommend beet burger but chicken looked great too! I wish coffee could be available before 8am as I am an early bird😊 I took two weaving classes, one through Iguana and one through CCAP. Each were quite unique and I learned a ton and would repeat both if I could. I Loved the Yoga classes and wish they were everyday! WiFi, cell service and hot water were all weak, but manageable. The year-round staff seem to all work hard keeping place clean and maintained. Volunteer staff were fun and festive. I loved the walkways along the lake! I wish I could have met owners and I hope I get the opportunity to return again someday💜

Volunteers from Driftwood surfer hostel in el paredon recommended me this hostel, since they are partner hostels, and they promised me that it also has this great family vibe that I love so much. And they did not promise too much, the atmosphere in there was great! They were offering an amazing family dinner which was super delicious and where it was super easy to connect with other travellers. Beside of that I also really enjoyed the chillout area with the cozy hammoks and the beautyful view of the lake! Would always go there again <3

I booked for two nights and stayed two weeks, I loved it that much. The staff are super friendly and caring, there’s loads to do in the hostel, but for me my favourite thing is the community there. The only downside for me is they don’t let out their glasses if you didn’t buy the alcohol there, but everything else was superb. Will definitely be returning

The Best Hotel on the Lake

Reviewed 11 august, 2021

I have been going to La Iguana Pérdida for 20 years now for a reason. There are other lovely hotels on Lake Atitlan but it is always La Iguana I go back to as a refuge from travel and work and the world. The owners and staff have always been incredibly welcoming and friendly and it has among the best views on the lake (and that’s saying something!) The Iguana provides an amazing blend of being able to do all sorts of things or simply lie in a hammock and watch the clouds and rest.
