I stayed in room 6 Before i could even check into my hotel room, It was discussed and agreed upon that someone would be waiting at the hotel for my late check in. I arrived at 9;15pm, pub was completely locked up and shut.... I rang the 2 numbers on the door went strait to voicemail, my employer rang the number he was given... Went straight to voice mail, the security guard who saw me waiting in the rain freezing cold, called the number he had and still went to voicemail, which left me no other option but to book in somewhere else after i've already organised and paid for that room. Outside lobby area carpet smelt like piss, My room was unclean (cockroaches in bowls and cups that were left for me to 'use', windows have no fly screen... It lets big blowflies in, at night the windows let mozzies in. If you shut the windows you end up really sick like me, and having to go to the chemist to get something to clear out my sinuses from the mould and mouldy smell. Bathroom vanity taps did not stop leaking, dripped all night and day. Timber around vanity was rotted at bottom and wood was stripping, shower head and stem was on the wrong way around so i couldn't adjust it, bed was very uncomfortable and stunk, ii had to spray the entire room with glen 20 and even stripped the bed and flipped the mattress which didn't help at all) after approaching staff and management from the hotel with my concerns, i was told that "the rooms are cheap so you have to come down to front desk and tell staff when you want linen changed and room cleaned (this was after 6 days) After approaching manager on 7th day she told me, that they only change the sheets every 7 days, not to mention I only had 1 pillow and it smelt like every head on Australia had rubbed on it. I highly advise against staying in particularly room 6, if you have a tent you're better to stay in there.
Clean,comfortable ,good value for money
Don’t be put off by the first impression of this pub, yes, it does look a bit out dated as you walk up the stairs ,but this gives it a bit of charm in my opinion. The rooms are very clean, modern and well equipped for the price.I have paid twice the cost of the room I had in other hotels and have not been half as good.Bed was comfy and warm, bathroom was modern and clean. There was no meals but plenty of options within walking distance.I will definitely stay there again on my next work trip to Burnie. All in all, great value for money
Budget stay
Great budget stop over. Rooms renovated, clean and spacious with great en-suite and good shower. Bar and lounge area. Chemist across the road and takeaways, Chinese, supermarket, bakery up the road. All you need to travel on.
Excellent low cost accommodation.
We were very surprised to find in this pretty ordinary looking country pub really excellent completely renovated accommodation upstairs. Don't be put off by the downstairs area. Completely refurbished rooms with large beautifully appointed ensuite bathrooms, and new furnishings with very comfortable beds. No meals available but a range of options nearby. This accommodation was the equal of 4 star venues we stayed in elsewhere in Tasmania.
Loz
We stopped in for a night after camping on the west coast. We were very happy, the room was nicer than we anticipated and at $67 for a twin share excellent value for money. Pleasantly surprised and very comfortable stay
