A must!
Been here at the end of July with my friend and it was a wonderful surprise. Rooms are lovely and food is super! Location is also optimal and easy reachable by car or train. You can easily explore the valleys and the lake from there. Highly recommended!
Our visit suffered from a poor start
Generally the accommodation was very good and we do not have any complaint about that. This was a last moment booking made at 0900 with booking .com. We arrived at 1400 and there was no one to be found at all. we waited for 30mins after which we drove into the mountains to the Swiss border. On returning after a couple of hours we returned and there was no change. We were about to look elsewhere when other (Belgian) guests arrived and entered through the back door. I had received a small injury and was being given first aid the other guests offered assistance but the problem was largely resolved. We were about to leave when another vehicle arrived but the occupant disappeared almost immediately. We had been unable to contact the owner by phone (wrong numbers) but tried the door again and it was opened by the recent arrival (He was there for the evening service in the Restaurant). Be sure you have a clear arrival time as I suspect this could be normal practice.
A great overnight.
After a slightly tricky search for it, this converted farmhouse turned out to be the best overnight of our trip to Italy and Switzerland. Very welcoming despite having to work our way round our own shortcomings at speaking Italian. Very clean and practical rooms and really superb food - the meat was grown on the farm. Excellent value and strongly recommended for those operating within this sort of budgetry area.
Very warm welcome and very clean acoomodation
We stayed here for one night in a family room as it was the only room available. I was travelling with a friend - Pete, and we were very grateful for the offer of this room made to us late the night before by the owner. The room was very practical without frills, clean and fresh. The bathroom was spacious and immaculate - you could sense the pride taken in the cleaning of it. We decided to book evening dinner at the restaurant and the owner promised us the steak would be good (locally sourced from his farm). The steak I ordered was described as rump steak on the menu but turned out to be a t-bone steak without much in the way of meat - more bone and fat. So disappointing really, although the owner was very actively doing his best to meet the needs of a busy restaurant you could see it was too much and I think he needed more staff - my friend's salad and beer he ordered did not arrive. The owner was very friendly throughout and offered us a complimentary schnapps at the end of our meal. Breakfast was very basic but well presented and the coffee was good. Overall excellent value but more clarity is needed on the menu. Finally the owner would do well do invest in the private drive that runs to the hotel as it is a rough stoned track with lots of hazards (not good for quality cars). Pete
Great surprise
Very kind welcome by Giorgio and great cooking with local products at very moderate prices. Giorgi and his workforce is very proud to host you. Own cows around and high in the mountains. Clean rooms and good sanitary. For long firm persons the beds might be a bit too small. Full flexibility in diner time, e.g. at late arrival. Some drawbacks: during part of the day reception is closed and you can not buy drinks. A bit more variety in stronger darker wines and beer is recommended. Lot of work done on the breakfast but I myself prefer a buffet type with some yoghurt, cereals etc. as well. As Giorgi does not speak English or German to an understandable level some of the house rules (take your own drinks, closure times, the big cellar under the house, etc.) could have been written out in an info brochure in English, German, so we could have known these earlier.
