Set on a spur of rock in one of the most panoramic settings of Sorrento where at one time there was a " Tonnara" from which the hotel takes its name, "La Tonnarella" is an oasis of peace and tranquillity for those who wish to sample a corner of paradise. Started out as a residential summer villa belonging to the Gargiulo family, still keeping its fascinating atmosphere with antique furnishing, ceramic tiles andthe interesting architectural style of interwoven tufa stone cornices, “ La Tonnarella” has been transformed into a delightful hotel with a backdrop of blue sea. Ugly hotel with a nice location

Great location with private beach and good breakfast but rooms were really old and ugly. My body was inching all night while trying to sleep. I suspect they had some bugs. Won’t stay there again! Shower was really ugly too and I didn’t feel comfortable getting in the shower!
A room with a view!

Enjoyable stay in a comfortable surrounding almost in the center of Sorrent. (Center within walking distance). Breakfast served due to Corona, but offered everything including fresh fruits and different choices of eggs. We had dinner at the terrace in the evening, the view was spectacular but also the food and service.
Still as magical as our first visit

We have recently returned from our sixth holiday to La Tonnarella. This is the only hotel we have returned to after staying at many beautiful four and five star hotels throughout Europe. Too often when revisiting anything it fails to live up to the memory and dream. This has never been the case for my wife and I at Tonnarella. For us it is the idyllic place to relax and enjoy the surroundings of a traditional Italian environment. It is 'classy' quiet and personal, not 'glitzy' busy and loud. Every member of staff is friendly, helpful and welcoming with reception staff speaking excellent English. All areas are immaculately clean and dressed in colourful traditional tiles. It is an under statement to describe the views as stunning. They are magnificent ranging in variety and interest. A lift descends to a fully serviced quiet well maintained private beach. In addition to all this the hotel boasts a superb restaurant. Dining is taken on a terrace which must be one of the most romantic settings in Sorrento and with the best view. We consider ourselves so lucky and fortunate to have enjoyed so many wonderful times at La Tonnarella. 'Yes' we will be returning next year, hopefully not under the cloud of Covid.
Wonderful hotel with views for our anniversary!

We had an amazing stay here! They helped us out with any questions we had and made it completely delightful. We had an early morning one day for a day trip we planned and they helped us by having to-go breakfast baggies ready for us before they opened the breakfast area and got a taxi for us to head to the marina we had to go to. Thank you for a wonderful time and I would recommend anyone to stay here! Definitely book a room with a terrace view! We loved having the long terrace to sit on in the evening and watch the sunset with the view of the sea, town of Sorrento, and Mt Vesuvius. The restaurant and beach was super nice and the gentleman server we had at both was absolutely a joy! Bed was a little firm for our taste but it definitely wasn’t a bother to not come back to this wonderful hotel!

Beautiful surroundings, overlooking the bay. The hotel is what you can expect for a 4 star Italian hotel. Nice, quiet, - not everything is maintained- all though the rooms are clean, quiet and from the balcony you have the most spectacular view. Breakfast - and the restaurant at the beach is nice only thing is the bar. - strange thing, it wasn’t possible during mid day to buy a cold bottle wine and have it brought/ or bring your self ! - to the room. Bar in hotel closed - bar at sppagia was also closed? Really sad when the only thing you want is to sit and sip cold wine on the balcony.
