Called in on spec. what a nice place. Couldn’t recommend it highly enough. Fab atmosphere and food was amazing. Menu is extensive and lots of homemade options. Good beer also which is a must. :o) Ate in the bar but the restaurant looks very nice. Will definitely return.

Parking is a bit tricky, we had to park a few streets away. very nice inside though, quite traditional but also bright and warm Friendly staff and had a nice pint of otter bitter. No food on the night we visited. We would recommend using if in the area

Booked a 2 night (Fri & Sat) stay at the Poltimore Inn, as a break. Arrived few hours earlier than we could book in, so had lunch in bar. Debbie, the manageress, was extremely pleasant, welcoming & helpful. We had booked a double room above the pub, but a couple of the lodges were vacant, so she had upgraded us, for more peace & quiet (not that the pub was noisy). Our room was lovely, with amazing views & a fabulous shower. Ver comfortable bed. We had booked for evening meals both nights & the food was great. Nothing was too much trouble, particularly the 2 young girls on the Friday evening, when we asked to change the fries for mash. Breakfast was also lovely, sat watching the birds in the trees by the window & the rabbits in the beer garden. Wife was planning our return visit, even before we had left. A real gem of a find & a couple of our neighbours have taken the details as they want to go. .

A wonderful place for considerate motorcyclists

We stayed for 2 nights as part of our first motorbike adventure with 4 friends. This Inn is in a beautiful village and the staff were warm, welcoming and very helpful. Being 3 couples, we stayed in 2 pods with a view plus the Observatory and with safe parking outside of each for our 3 motorbikes it was ideal. The views are breathtaking and we slept well, riding out across the moor, over Porlock and Countisbury Hills and down to Lynmouth for pasties and ice cream - idyllic! When back at the inn we enjoyed lovely hot showers in our accommodation then walked up to the beautiful dining room to enjoy delicious local food made with care and attention. With Vegetarians and Pescetarians among us there was plenty of choice and the waiting staff were great. Local ales, cider and gin and a buzzing atmosphere just added to our enjoyment. A super breakfast set us up each day and the local shop was a short walk away for a newspaper and some cards and sweets. Knowing our bikes were safe and within sight during our stay put our minds at ease. And for 6 x 50+yr olds, returning rather late to the motorbiking of our youth we had a holiday to remember and already want to return. The Observatory is stunning and we are eyeing up the Dark Skies Festival with interest. The only hesitation in recommending is that everybody will know book!! But you won't regret it, I promise.

A welcome greeted us as we stopped on our cycle ride at North Molton. Lovely hospitality A chance to stop and take an iced drink after cycling all those hills! Beautiful views and a great space to sit outside.
