Very friendly and clean
Excellent customer service from Victoria and 1. It was the fastest check and that we have ever had! Everyone was very nice and accommodating. That location is very good and the rooms are clean and set up extremely efficiently. The breakfast was a covid breakfast to go and it was set a very well and very tasty!
Nothing special at all
Hotel is located a short walk from the beach, but parking is good. Not sure I would consider this a remodeled hotel at all as its no where near the standards of newer HIE hotels that I have stayed. The grab and go breakfast is not worth anything at all, cereal and packaged granola bars, no juice, no hot breakfast at all. Room was just ok definitely not remodeled, could hear folks above my walking in their room so no soundproofing. Lots of trash and used towels in hallway as people forgo housekeeping, trash bins around hotel were always full, so this does not indicate a concern for cleanliness. Pool are was nicer than a normal HIE but nothing extra special. Overall felt it was overpriced for what it was, but seemed to match the level of other hotels on SPI which are by no means luxury hotels. I would not return.
Our go to hotel for SPI
We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express for three days in June 2020 and the following is our review; An extremely clean hotel and room. Our room was magically cleaned when we left in the morning, and by the afternoon we could unwind in our clean and comfortable bed from heaven. I say magically cleaned because they were so efficient with their cleaning and linens fully stocked. The staff and manager Billy ,are extremely friendly and accommodating. We felt very cared for and loved the welcoming aquarium in the lobby. The workout/fitness room and pool are lovely. Everything looks fresh and updated. The location is excellent and offers both an ocean and Bay view. The beach front and Clayton‘s famous bar/restaurant are right next-door with good parking. Across the street is the turtle rescue and birding sanctuary which is very much worth seeing and within walking distance. This is an excellent family/couples hotel and our favorite go to hotel in South Padre Island Texas. The Heath’s.
Forget the free breakfast
Hotel is great but the free breakfast should not even be considered a continental breakfast. Had planned on not going out to eat mornings, but that changed the first day. Hotel is very clean, and pool is great. There is a walk to the beach close by because parking there is prohibited.

Beautifully remodeled hotel. Check in was a breeze, fast, accurate and was provided with all information of the hotels amenities, such as times for the pool, fitness room and free breakfast. Speaking of breakfast, it was amazing fresh healthy choices, and a fantastic indulgent pancake machine. There is coffee, hot water and cold fruit infused water available all day and night. The front desk staff Jason and Sonja are so cheerful and accommodating, they always greet you by name when leaving or returning from an outing. You truly get the feeling they are interested you as a person and work hard to make your stay exceptional. The entire hotel has been completely remodeled, and it's amazing. Guest rooms are so fresh, modern, huge TVs, microwaves, mini refrigerator and absolutely the most comfortable beds and linens. They have a heated pool, which may not seem important in the summer, but in the cooler months, it's a much appreciated plus. Plenty of lounge chairs, table and a BBQ grill!! A short 4 minute walk to the beach and Clayton's Beach Bar, or you can take the Island Metra anywhere on the island for free. I rented a car, not really necessary on the Island...did forget to turn the lights off on the rental car, causing a dead battery. Billy the manager came to the rescue and jump started it for us.....incredible customer service. Will definitely be returning.
