John is a great host; nice place to stay

Because of an unplanned visit to the Southampton Hospital casualty department during our first trip to England, we were in need of a place to stay in the city. We hadn't planned on being in Southampton and didn't know the town nor its lodging offerings. John took us on as guests late in the day and even waited up for us to make our way to the lodge once released from hospital. He was very gracious. The breakfast in the morning was lovely and the accommodations were nice. The bed was comfortable, the building was in good condition, and the washrooms were clean and functioned well.

Excellent find

We stayed here while visiting the Southampton boat show in September 2018. It was a relatively late booking but we were accommodated very professionally by John. We took the double bedroom on the top floor, not over looked and it was a quiet room, in fact it was situated on a pretty quiet street. The beds were comfortable and bedding too. The on suite was clean as was the rest of the room.. In the morning the English breakfast was prepared fresh from John and was very good. We would gladly stay here again.

Excellent choice

I've stayed at B&B's in Southampton a lot over the last 4 years and I feel this is clearly the best value. Really spotlessly clean, good shower, comfortable rooms, nice and warm in winter and a great breakfast. What more could you want. Few minutes walk to railway station. John is a great host. Stay with confidence

Cosy and comfortable

Reviewed 28 february, 2018

I stayed here for 4 nights on a work trip. It's a very pleasant place to stay-I had a single room which was small but very cosy and comfortable, and the en suite shower room was fine. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. The room had a single bed which was very comfortable. It's well situated being very close to main bus routes, but its on a very quiet road and very peaceful. Breakfast was fuss-free: I generally don't go for cooked breakfasts and stuck to cereal and toast, but other guests were eating the cooked breakfast and seemed to really enjoy it. The only remotely negative point was that the Wi-Fi coverage was a little patchy at times-it worked perfectly in the breakfast room but in my room it occasionally dropped out, but that really was very minor. I'd be very happy to stay here again and have no reservations recommending it.
