Not a place to sleep
Traveling from central Mississippi to Illinois. Stayed one night. Our room was above basketball court where 15 people played basketball continuously until around 10 pm. At 11 pm loud thumping music played from the room next door for 2 hours until enough people complained they turned it off. When we arrived there were full trash bags in the hall outside of rooms , they were still there plus more when we left. Although, there were signs on the front entrance to wear masks, only the clerk behind glass at front desk had one on. None of the guests wore masks. It appears this is a place where local residents come to play basketball and party, not a place for a restful night’s stay.
Stopped on way to Beach
This hotel was very very clean. Rooms were quiet, comfortable beds. The staff was very nice, especially the front desk lady in the morning and the sweet lady making up our breakfast to go. A pleasant attitude, especially considering she was having to work extra due to covid restrictions. Would stay here again
Average
This hotel is nice in appearance with friendly staff BUT was lacking in several areas. Did not appear to be kept clean, the laundry room was overflowing with trash in the can and floor for a week, it was never cleaned. The side entrance door was never cleaned as it was very dirty with hand smudges all over the glass. The room was spacious but heating/air unit very loud, garbage disposal didn’t work, light on bathroom vanity didn’t work and shower leaked water in puddles. All reported with maintenance in and out of my room several times to address issue but never fixed, (except disposal was fixed after 3rd time) I was on extended stay so didn’t want to pack and move rooms until they put 2 large aggressive dogs in room next to me and I feared for myself and my small shihtzu each time we left the room. Needless to say I checked out and went elsewhere. Felt like I was staying at an overpriced motel like an Extended Stay America or Red Roof Inn. Definitely not what Hilton claims to be.
Southhaven for Baseball
Kaishmeir Allen was the employee I dealt with. He was amazing. Very helpful and friendly. All of the staff are very motivated, helpful and friendly. The hotel is very clean and neat. Rooms are big. Basketball court and great entertaining space out back for large groups like ours. The staff made our trip pleasant!
Nice hotel but bad weekend
We tend to gravitate to Homewood Suites and stayed here while in MS. The hotel is nice and we loved our room. The fan was loud and had a missing light globe but not a deal breaker. We did have an issue with people running down the hall and banging on the doors but this was addressed by the staff (Bonnie). Bonnie was very apologetic and handled this. I think she is leaving so Hilton is losing a good one. Unfortunately, I fear that Covid is causing the company to put too much on single employees in the field. The Asst Manager was also apologetic when we checked out. We understood that the staff can’t control everything but can react which they did excellently.
