Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, Sparta, WI

We stayed here for a week. Moving into the area. Very small room with no storage. The only reason I’m giving it 2 stars is because my kids loved the pool. Don’t expect to get your room cleaned everyday even though you’re paying for it. They’ll claim they’re short staffed. Breakfast was okay, but if you’re gluten free it’s very limited. Also the walls are paper thin. The ppl next door come in from a drinking night at 3am and we’re obnoxiously loud, drunk, and then we got to hear the rest of adult things going on. 😣 Then on top of this their alarm went off at 5am, hitting the snooze button repeatedly at least 8x. You get how thin the walls are. No sleep for us. Things are dated and need repairs. The key system to get into the rooms works horribly. Very musty in the rooms. I don’t recommend for those PCSing to the area. We would have stayed at the Best Western if it was available.

Wasn't to impressed. We got the jacuzzi sweet for the weekend. Check in on friday and there was no remote in the room for the tv. The only bright spot from the stay was Jessica who was working when we got there. She did everything she could to help with getting us a remote to change the channels. We found out that everyone of the pillows were down feather pillows along with the comforter. We had 2 of the people in the room that are allergic to feathers. There was garbage under the dresser which we found while looking for remote. Open up the hide a bed and there was garbage under the mattress. The mattress pad had a urine stain on it. There was no sheet on it either. When we went down to get a sheet the guy working the desk over night was very rude to my wife when she asked for different pillows because of the allergies and for the sheet for the hide a bed. When we finally got the sheet it had a stain on it. Talked to the general manager on saturday morning about all the stuff and even showed her the pictures I took. Asked her what could she do to remedy this situation. Her response was "I'll have the guy in charge of the house keepers talk to them because I cant speak Indian language so there is a barrier of me relaying stuff to them." Thought maybe she would offer a partial refund or discount towards another stay but nope that is all she said. Needless to say we will never stay there again.

This hotel was clean and very quiet. The room was fine. Nothing fancy, but then they don't claim to be. Beds were comfortable. Kind of weird that this hotel doesn't have an elevator. When we arrived the wifi was out. We asked about it at the desk and she indicated she had called someone. Our daughter needed to login and take a test, so we were a bit concerned. Obviously that message got passed along because by the time the wifi was fixed, there was a new person at the desk. We received a phone call in our room to let us know it was fixed and our daughter would be able to take her test. I thought that was exception customer service, and we appreciated it very much.

The room and property were clean enough. The room itself was tiny and they had two queen beds crammed in so there wasn’t much room to move about. The place was fairly quiet as well. Now for the bad: the bed’s mattress was worn so much that there was a valley in the middle, we kept rolling down into it. Needless to say that is not good on a 55 year old back! The shower drained very slowly so you stood in dirty water as you showered. Worst of all, the smoke alarm in our room went off for no reason at all at 3 in the morning, waking us from a dead sleep. No, we do not smoke or vape...anything at all...for those who might be thinking that! I had noticed the smoke alarm seemed to be hanging oddly from the ceiling but didn’t think much of it. Turns out it had been taped in place with cloth first aid tape. I could not get it to stop beeping so I took it up to the front desk half asleep; by the time I got there and handed it to the bewildered desk clerk it had stopped. I mentioned it to the lady at the front desk when we checked out and she apologized. When I asked about some kind of adjustment to our bill for the inconvenience, she told us since our room was booked through a third party there was nothing she could do. She said they may be able to do something with points if I was a Radisson member, which I am not. I found that to be pretty lame for what amounts to just shoddy maintenance that resulted in an interrupted nights sleep. Not going back to this particular property and I would not recommend it!

Always feel welcomed here. Location is perfect for us as a starting point to many adventures. Staff is helpful and friendly. Even with Covid we had a great experience and I am sure we will be back again.
