Pleasant stay in good location
There is a transfer bus from the airport to the station, then an interesting crossing of the railway lines and through a gap in the fence to the Valentino. The place is fairly basic, but good value for money. Our room was comfortable, the A/C excellent, and we did not experience any noise from the trains; the station isn't very busy anyway. By the station are lots of useful shops, offices and cafes. There is also a good market nearby. The owner of the Valentino, on our arrival, gave us much useful information. The restaurants round the corner served very good breakfasts. From Split we took the ferry to Hvar. Again, it was easy to get to the ferry.
Great location & service!
A friend and I stayed here for one night; we travelled from Novalja where we had just been to a festival and stayed here overnight as we were getting the ferry to Dubrovnik the following morning. We stayed in a smaller room but it was clean and had a terrace we could sit out on. The noise from the trains was a bit loud but it stopped a little while after we went to bed, it didn’t keep us up. After being in a villa without air con in the bedroom, the best thing about this room was the air con above the head of the bed which was lovely! Croatia in July is very hot at night without it! The owners here are so lovely; they greeted us warmly and helped carry our luggage. The young owner gave us maps and marked some places for us of where was good to eat nearby. We got up early for our ferry and they helped again with our luggage and directed us to the harbour which is very close - it’s a great location if you’re travelling onwards the following day. Would definitely return!
We were not pleased with the accommodation prebooked in Zadar for 2 nights. After 1 night, we left for Split the next morning with no idea of where to stay. We took Flixbus and arrived at the bus terminal next to Split train station. Looking around from across the train tracks (the harbour is on the other side), we saw the name VALENTINO in bold letters on a white building, and decided to check it out. That was the best thing we did that morning! The young owner, named Valentino, welcomed us and gave us coffee and made us comfortable in the reception area. There is only 7 rooms in the establishment, and we had to wait for the chambermaid to clean a room for us. We decided to leave our luggage at the reception, and told Valentino we would explore Split old town, then return in the afternoon to check in. We came back about 5 pm to find our luggage in the room; Thanks, Valentino! Dinner back in the old town, and the next morning, on the advice of Valentino, we took a short bus ride to Trogir That was the best advice we got. After the bad experience in Zadar, our great Split stay made up for the disaster! THANK YOU, VALENTINO!!!
My partner and I stayed here after arriving via ferry from Vis. We stayed for one night before our flight home from Split airport. It was easy to find and the owner met us at the door and took our luggage. The room was very clean and had a balcony. There were cold bottles of water in the fridge and we were offered a coffee on arrival too. It was in a great location and the owner gave us a map and reccomended restaurants to us. Will deffo stay here again when we return in the future.
Never mind the trains!
The train noise on the balcony at rooms Valentino is notable, but is not constant and stops at night. The rooms are spotlessly clean, very comfortable with really great beds, and the staff are great - welcoming, courteous and helpful. The location is perfect - adjacent to the rails station, bus station and ferry port, with views from balconies across the train lines to the boats in the harbour just beyond. Going through the station you reach the old town or the beach in just a few minutes walk. Thoroughly recommended.
