Mr Paul Edwards
Arrived at Marjella tired from flight and very late night to be dropped at a charming little hotel, the rooms is clean and airy plenty of towels and bedding and the staff were great doing all they could to aid us on arrival. The location is good in a residential area and opposite is good shop for food. Centre of Split is around 10 minute walk and it's really quiet at night. What you pay for is rewarded here with much and for a base in Split the Villa Marjella is perfect. Big thankyou to Blanka for your endless assistance and the greeter who's name I not able to pronounce , thank you for settling us in. I recommend the Villa Marjella PS , For the negative reviewers on this hotel I would like to add, if you want high end accomadation then you need to pay a lot more than the very reasonable prices that the Marjella are charging.
Beyond belief
The place was booked for us by the Flight Centre, and I was shown photos that must have been taken years ago. The owner received us in his underwear and proudly ushered us into the room. The "double" room was so small that we had to stack our two small suitcases and carry-on on top of each other and alternate opening them on the bed with the protruding springs. The walls were dirty and the air conditioning was so loud that we had to turn it off. Internet was intermittent and the box TV so old that it turned from colour to black & white. We waived the fees for the other three booked days and left after finding ourselves top rate accommodation within walking distance of all the major attractions. Any good points? Yes the sheets were clean and the girl at the desk was very polite and helpful.
Below average
This accomodation is for you... if you don’t believe in hygiene, love sleeping with mosquitos, holding the shower head while your partner showers because the mount is broken, or love sleeping with a single bed size quilt with no cover on a double bed. Over priced for what it is
Absolutely basic - but cheap
Hotel was very basic and a bit worn. Location a little far from everything except a Lidl store right across the road. Breakfast was ok, but nothing special. Kids complained about noisy beds in their room. Cleaning was ok too. Luckily we only spent one night before moving on. It was cheap and ok for one night.
Disappointing
The positive is the rooms are clean and the hot water is good. What is disappointing is the air conditioning is poor (the air con is located at the wrong end of the L shaped rooms so the cool air doesn’t reach the bed area); the WiFi reaches certain rooms and is poor reception in others; the breakfast is ok but the staff have different prices depending on who you ask (put up a sign would seem a simple solution but they don’t); be aware the hostel is located 1.7km from the center of Split (there is a couple of supermarkets nearby and a couple of small bars); but you need to walk into town for meals
