Lujoso
Room was nice - good luck getting to it
The hotel is beautiful, the room is lovely and the people are sweet. What was absolutely atrocious was the number of maskless people in the lobby that separate you from the elevators. Yes, there is food and beverage being served all around, but with the limit at the time being 25% capacity, the place was packed on the evening of 3/12/21. And the kicker is the hotel was not that full yet they gave us a lovely room looking at the train tracks so we got to listen to trains all night long.
Service is Slipping
I've stayed at the Davenport hotel's more than 30 times over the years and usually it's a solid choice, but I think that their top tier service isn't what is used to be. I hope that can change back. I spend >60% of my days travelling in mostly 4 star business class hotels and most places are really doing their best to stay afloat. This hotel like the other Davenports have a well kept classic look about it. Feels like a 5 star hotel when you enter the lobby and work through to the restaurant and lounge. The rooms are clean, the linens are nice, the towels are soft. Check. What is slipping is the customer service, especially the front desk. Now, beneath the veneer of a lovely property, is the heart of what makes this a special place to experience (or not). Lots of little things that make the difference between a 3 star "apathetic" experience to a true 4-5 star "experience" where the staff takes care if your needs. Next time I'll try one of the other Davenport's to see if the problem is just with the Tower. Note to ownership: I suggest you give your "in charge" staff the power to solve problems and encourage them to do so. Search "employee empowerment hotels". The front desk has a "Rules enforcement" attitude that supersedes customer satisfaction. A couple odds and ends / the beds have great linens, but the mattresses are due for a replacement - you might experience a very soft sink hole of a mattress.
Great for leisure travel
Did a little staycation here recently and had a great time. This is a good hotel for leisure travel. Beds are great, bathrooms are good enough and rooms are fairly spacious. The safari theme is kind of fun rather than chintzy. Excellent location near many bars, restaurants and shopping. The hotel restaurant is only so-so but the bar can be pretty hopping (when there isn’t a pandemic, at least). Views are not as good as you might think—mostly of the hospital district rather than towards the river or west. But it’s a nice place and one of my favorite hotels to stay at in Spokane.
Covid Birthday Getaway
The front desk staff was kind and informative upon arrival! The bar and restaurant were open for “to-go” orders which was fine with us! The pool and workout room were open, but limited capacity, and that was awesome for safety purposes, but also allowing us to celebrate our daughters birthday in a small, but special way. We were grateful for the service, staff, and quality of the rooms!
