Not a 4 star hotel
Apart from the location, all other aspects of the hotel are not up to the standard of a 4 star. Old equipment and decoration of the rooms, poor general cleanliness (cleaned every day but still bad smell in the toilets, clogged sink...), breakfast not very appetizing (small menu and hair found in a dish). Staff not ready to serve breakfast, otherwise at the reception, ok. You can find better and way cheaper than that scam.
August holiday
I have seen negative reviews of this hotel but think some visitors need to research the area before they visit. St Julian’s is a busy vibrant resort if you want peace and quiet don’t choose here. Just under 10 minutes walk away you have the harming Spinola and Ballutta Bay what’s not to like? The hotel is absolutely fine, it’s doing its best to adapt to new rules re CV19. Your temperature is taken each time you enter the building and there is hand sanitiser everywhere. All areas are scrupulously cleaned constantly. Rooms and bathrooms are spacious and clean. Daily maid service as you would expect. Roof top pool could do with a little music as there is some at the bar. I agree that some people would need umbrellas up there but guess the management may be afraid they could blow off. Staff are charming and courteous at all times. Only downside is breakfast I believe it’s not served by hotel staff but by outside catering staff and the choices are limited but again this change is due to the pandemic. We feel very fortunate that we could have our main holiday this year and will definitely return to this hotel in the future.
Disappointed in this hotel and there are
The location was in a dirty, littered neighbourhood close to many bars and strip clubs. I thought I was going to a hotel close to the beach in a nice area but it’s really seedy with lots of drunk people everywhere. If that’s what you want, then this is the place for you. I was wanting a quiet getaway so this did not suit me. The hotel itself is nice enough. A little grubby and the staff seem overworked and tired. My room was small with no view except over the air conditioning units. Breakfast took forever and there were only 4 options. The pool was a disappointment. No umbrellas to escape the sun. No restaurant open. Generally speaking I would not recommend this hotel.
Service is absolutely horrible
My experience with this hotel was extremely bad. It takes ages to get a reply via e-mail and the reception is quite unfriendly. The hotel was definitely way below my expectations. I do not recommend to book here.
Good (but not Very Good).
Good location. Bus stops nearby for the reliable local bus service (buy a travel card from nearby shops to get into Valetta, where parking is difficult). Bus from airport then to St. Julian's might avoid an expensive taxi journey. Others have mentioned the good breakfast buffet. Car parking, also mentioned is either €8 per day, or less on the open air car park, except at weekends. Two points to note: firstly the swimming pool is probably not suitable for children unless they are strong swimmers, there is no "shallow end" and the pool is all one depth, around 1.5 metres. Secondly, ordinary rooms DO NOT have a kettle/ tea-coffee making facilities. Take your travel kettle, if you still have one, there was a small fridge and near the lift an ice machine (tap water isn't nice to drink). We didn't eat at the evening buffet, there are many interesting restaurants in the area to suit most tastes Would we stay here again ? Yes, but will take a travel kettle !
