Excellent Value for Money

We stayed for two nights whilst visiting nearby Stoke. It is a very friendly, welcoming establishment. Andy and his team are all approachable and helpful; recommending nearby places to eat and drink if you don’t want to do so at the George. We arrived on a Tuesday evening which is ‘nacho night’ – buy two drinks and get free nachos and all that goes with them. Great outdoor seating area and a quaint bar too. The room was stylish, comfortable and very clean, slightly noisy as we were on the front of the building that overlooks the road. Plenty of nice little touches like fresh milk in the mini fridge, fresh water on the table, coffee bags rather than sachets of instant. Breakfast is at a time to suit you, local (Staffs oatcakes are a must) and very good. Good parking at the back and the drive to Stoke is a little over 25 minutes, small compromise to make when you consider the cost and low value for money that you get trying to stay elsewhere in the city. We discovered the Little George by chance but its now the default option when visiting The Potteries. Well done Andy and team!

Unexpected and very enjoyable.

What a lovely little property, was not sure what to expect on entry as the images on line gives the impression of a much larger hotel with more facilities. However the bedroom more than made up for any shortfall. The manager was very friendly and took pride in his job and the property. Free parking, great location, lovely little town/village with a few shops and some nice restaurants. This was a last minute booking for one night, slightly overpriced but happy to stay there again.

Returned to the lovely town of Eccleshall and had a great breakfast here. Well looked after by George and it is a classy place to be. Bacon a bit fatty but otherwise really great. The decor ,Coffee and oatcakes are genuine quality and if you have never previously tried Staffordshire Oatcakes this is the place to go!!!

Really NICE (except for Sunday breakfast) !

The staff make this place, as they cannot do enough for you. It is a lovely old building, well renovated & in a terrific location in the town. Excellent car park + our room was plenty big enough & very well appointed. Nice bathroom. Saturdays breakfast in the bar was superb. Unfortunately they do not open until 11.00 on Sundays, so you either have to wait for your cooked breakfast until then or order a continental breakfast the night before & have it delivered to your room on Saturday night. We chose this latter option & it was a bit of a disaster as the table in the room was too small & we ended up balancing plates on our laps. Not ideal. Had several minor issues with dust; feathers on the carpet & a locked safe we could not use (staff notified). However, not put off staying here again.

Great room, not really set up for food

Loved our room and the decor. Immaculate, cosy, contemporary and fun. All the fittings were of excellent quailty too. Just not sure about the breakfast options which were either to order a continental one which would be left on a tray, or to wait until 11 at which point the Little George was 'open for business' and you could order hot food. My sausage sandwich was DELICIOUS but it took an hour to arrive - they just don't have the cooking faciities to cater for more than a couple of people. We stayed on a Saturday night so there were plenty of cyclists in for breakfast on Sunday morning at which point it felt like the system was failing. The owner and staff were at all times friendly and helpful.
