Misleading!
Booked through hotels.com and I had the option of either paying online or paying at the hotel with free cancellation. I chose to pay at the hotel (costing me £60 more). I then got an email from the apartments direct saying i needed a €120 non-refundable deposit. Clearly not free cancellation then is it? I wouldn’t have gone for the dearer option if i had to pay anyway. This is very misleading. The person emailing me back wasn’t the most helpful either after i said it mentioned free cancellation. Plenty of places to stay in croatia, shame since it had a decent view, that’s all i booked it for anyway.
Great apartments in lovely Strobrec
Just back from a 10 day holiday in Croatia. Spent a week at Strobrec at the Apartments Porat. Good accommodation, clean, comfortable and loads of hot water for showers. Lovely balcony with a great view of the sea. A 20 min bus ride away from Split which cost 13 kuna - so about £1.50 and the bus stop together with more bars and restaurants, bakery and supermarket only a few mins walks away. Very helpful owner who arranged a taxi for us on our last day to the ferry in Split for our next adventure in Dubrovnik.
Nice view and helpful owner
We stayed four days in Stobrec in this apartment. The owner was very nice and helpful with eveything. He order us taxi and it cost just as much he said. The room was as promised but I was hoping for wine glasses, better wifi connection, more than one sheet/cover in a douple bed. AC worked great, there were fridge and good bathroom. Near busstop, one way ticket costs 13 kuna. Good restaurants near and beach where you can rent kayaks, sun beds etc.
Nice view, poor quality
Room with a sea view balcony was okay, but everything else not. Water boiler and coffee machine were missing, shover cubicle was very moldy, clothes rack was rusty and ruined a shirt on it. in the beginning we had to give our passports to the receptionist (of course) and he told to bring them back in an hour. We had to ask them next morning before we had our passports back. Room was not cleaned daily and continental breakfast was a slice of bread and juice. Whole room was dirty and bed very uncomfortable. Wifi and air conditioning works fine.
Lovely people, beautiful views, fair price and a great location
We stayed here for a week after Ultra festival in July. We wanted somewhere close to split. Storbec is a 10 min drive to split and there is a bus stop around 100 meters away from the apartments with regular buses into split, I am unsure of the cost of public transport. An uber ride to split will cost around 120kuna. We were greeted by a very happy staff member who gladly stored our luggage as we we're early to check in and rushed off to prepare our room for us even though we were early. There is plenty of parking to the rear of the apartment. Porag the owner is so lovely and helpful, he gave us information about close by attractions. A trip to krka waterfalls was 55kuna per person not including the entrance fee of 180kuna in peak seasons. We had a lovely apartment, with AC a fridge and glasses to drink from (no kettle) however we stayed bed and breakfast and every morning we would go downstairs to the restaurant and have either a continental breakfast or an omelet (these are their only breakfast options) with a coffee. No more than 200 meters away is a rocky beach and about 500 meters away up the hill is a lovely, clean gravel beach with a few coffee bars. Storbec town itself has a good selection of places to eat which are far cheaper than in split for similar menus. A dinner for 2 with starters and drinks was around 250 kuna. You can hire pedal boats, kayaks or play on an inflatable game at the beach next to the hotel. The town is very much child friendly with a good play park and each night all the kids in the town gather to play football etc. There is a small tommy supermarket within walking distance, but if you hire a car the I would recommend driving to the bigger supermarket which is around 4km away called konzub. We stayed for a relaxing week and we can't wait to come back again. The prices to stay in storbec are much fairer than in split.
