Highly recommend "the Loft"
We had a lovely weekend in "The Loft". This is one of two rooms on the top floor, and is only accessed by an exterior staircase - so it is not suitable for disabled residents. The room is comfortable, and there is a large bath in the bathroom. Under COVID regulations breakfast is supplied in the room.
AVOID! Rooms falsely advertised, chose to not stay the night and owner would not refund. Terrible service!
Avoid staying here at all costs. Read the reviews carefully as the bistro has many good reviews but the rooms have many terrible reviews. My partner and I chose to stay here for the night, we arrived at Wild Garlic and self checked in the room. I was immediately disappointed, this was certainly not what I saw from the pictures on their website. They advertise the rooms as a boutique B&B when in fact they are quite the opposite. The room was dingy, lacked natural light, could not open windows, bed and sofa looked very worn and a poor finish in general. The breakfast was left in the room - a muffin, yogurt and packet of granola, not the bistro downstairs as made out on the website. We also found hairs on the bed and white stains all over the sofa... we actually laid towels to sit on for the 10 minutes we stayed there for. We decided to leave and book alternative accommodation. I contacted the owner direct and the booking website also contacted them, we spoke about our reasons for not staying and the most disappointing thing was that they decided not to approve a refund. I can not believe we paid £110 to stand in the room for less than 10 minutes... Message to owner - stop falsely advertising and be fair...
Excellent
Have eaten here every time we visit Nailsworth always very good though last time we found the manager for the evening a bit tricky and food slightly under par. Tonight it was perfect we had a new waitress who was wonderful, great relaxed service and all of our food was very delicious...can’t wait to be here again.
Super rooms
We had the luxury of staying in wild garlic restaurant and rooms, and to be honest, I didn’t expect much from a small room let above a restaurant... I could not have been further from that, since the room we got was the loft, was simply amazing. Very big room, massive very comfortable king size bed (a rarity in the UK) and a very good size bathroom with a big rain shower. Very comfortable, quiet, even though it is in the town center. Will definitely stay there again next time we go to Nailsworth.
Somewhat disappointing
The Loft was spacious, comfortable and clean but we had minor niggles that let it down; no plug in the bathroom sink, a seemingly fixed (or stuck?) temperature dial on the shower, which was not hot enough, very low hot water pressure making the bath far too big to fill unless you start half an hour before you want to bathe, having to climb in the bath to open or close the window. The biggest disappointment was the breakfast. Unfortunately I did not pick up on booking that the restaurant being closed Sunday night -Wednesday meant we would not be able to have a 'fresh' breakafst but would have food left in the room on the previous day. This meant that the croissants and other pastries were a day old by the time we needed them and the selection of cereals was not brilliant (Cocoa Pops, Shreddies, All Bran, Special K) meaning myself and my wife were arm wrestling for the one we wanted (these were not replenished after our first day). I really wanted to like this accommodation more than I did but perhaps our experience would have been better if we had visited at the end of the week.
