More about the hotel
Enjoyed it - so stayed an extra night!
Having dinner in Manly so decided to take the ferry across and stay the night. Check in was brilliant - genuinely warm and welcoming - off to a good start! Taken to room - loved it. Décor is a bit Miami which I like, big bathroom, comfy bed and a view of the beach - perfect!. Then escorted to the Roof Top Bar. Fantastic!. And breakfast is thrown in as well. The weather was perfect so we stayed an extra night. Really good value for money. What else, we were warned that at the weekend we may hear some noise, we did, but it didn't bother us. Couldn't find a hairdryer in the room and could have used a few coat hangers inside the wardrobe. As a tea drinker, water from a Expresso machine doesn't work - but these are minor things. Great staycation!
food was worst i've had in a long time!
Hubby found a hair in his hot chips, the nachos were cold and the meat was chewy, the kids bolognese was tiny, the kids quesadilla came with salad and onion (don't know how many 3 years olds would eat that). To top it off the spoon which came with the kids ice cream also had a hair on it. When I mentioned the hair situation to the manager of the kitchen she barely uttered an apology. Plenty of other dining options in Manly, best to avoid this one.
The pro's ourweigh the con's.
I like rooms with a view, so that why I'm awarding the Manly Steyne 5 stars. The rooms are tired and dusty, the place could do with a good makeover but look at the price you're paying, it's great value! You can sit out and watch the surf from your balcony. It's perfectly located on the corner of the Corso. Be warned, it's noisy, so bring your sleeping tablets, ear plugs alone won't stop the walls and floor reverberating from the base music in the bar downstairs. Despite the con's, I will stay again.
Sometimes changes are not for the good
We are Manly locals & have been customers of the Steyne hotel for years. Their bistro normally have upmarket, innovative food. We went there last week & noticed a number of changes in the bistro menu. Our food was less than poor. I cannot believe this great bistro has lowered its standard. We left most of our meal (dry overcooked food) & left with the feeling of not returning. Such a shame!
Enjoying the Bar once again!
The Bar at Hotel Steyne is one of our favourites; the vibes are fantastic and there is a wide variety of drinks at hand. It would be nice to stay here one day. we did have a friend residing here for a few weeks and he loved it.
