More about the hotel
Large apartments in a great location
My family of three has just spent four nights in a large 2 bedroom apartment at The York, and had a great time. Although nothing special in terms of decor, our apartment (2304) was very spacious and had a large, complete kitchen (eg. full size fridge and double oven), laundry, and two balconies. My only complaint would be that during a Sydney sumner having a doona as the only option on a bed is a bit tiresome: adding a top sheet would provide a desirable lighter option. Special mention must be made of the hotel's hardworking and attentive Manager who seems to never leave his post, and the outside pool - which was a real delight for our 12 year old daughter. This place might not be "flash" (and if that's your thing, go to the QT), but it's very functional and fine value for money. Recommended.
Excellent location
We have recently stayed for 2 nights in the 3 bedroom Swiss Super Suite, we had a really lovely stay and would recommend for a well priced city stay. The front desk people were pleasant but Mehmet was a stand out. Location is excellent, a few minutes walk to The Rocks and Circular Quay. Parking is expensive at $50/night. The apartment is massive and the beds are particularly comfortable. The carpets need updating quite urgently and I was surprised there was no coffee machine given the fact we were in their best room. Shower and water pressure excellent but no bench space for toiletries/clothes. The balcony door is a trap for young fingers so be careful. When the doors are shut there is barely any noise and the small harbour view was lovely. Air con through our which is fantastic. I thought the pool was supposed to be heated but it’s not. Overall a very pleasant stay and I’d recommend.
No compassion
We had a nonrefundable booking but couldn't attend due to coronavirus and requested them for a postponement (not cancellation) of our booking on humanitarian grounds due to the unprecedented circumstances. But unfortunately, the staff was quite curt and did not even consider postponement. They have no consideration for their customers even during such difficult times whereas other hotels and even airlines are considering the requests of their customers. I would strongly recommend other co-travellers not to book in this hotel since the management is very stubborn and unwilling to help out even in times of crisis.
Great rooms in the heart of the CBD
Okay so the first impressions aren't that good walking into a brown mission brick building, but it is an older building. The staff were friendly, there was a Nespresso machine in the foyer, and we quickly had our room Keys. The room on the 25th floor was clean and spacious with lovely decor. The views were great, and the only down side was dated tiles on the balconies with older style plants. 2 bathrooms, 2 big teles, and comfy beds. Easy walk to circular quay or darling harbour. Loved it! Reasonably priced, will definitely stay here again.
Location
Just checked in yesterday. The reception is friendly and approachable. Check in process was painless. Room is not sound proved. Easily hear guests getting on/off the lifts. It was quiet at night. Room is spacious. There's plenty room to dance in kitchen, lounge or balcony. Bathroom is huge with seperate bath tub and walk in shower. Washing machine and dryer are conveniently located in the bathroom. Everywhere looks clean and tidy. Keep up with good job. The apartment is in prime location, walking distance to everywhere you essentially need. There are plenty restaurants within minutes of walk. Woolworth supermarket is cross York St. Guests can easily walk to attractions like Darling Harbour, Circular Quay, Hyde Park, Town Hall, Fish Market, etc.
