Sketchy Neighbors/Hood
People conducting [illicit] "business" in cars in the shared parking lot adjacent to hotel property. Neighbood looks crime infested [likely reason for requiring all who stay to submit a form of ID], though property itself looked well kept. Must have been a poorly constructed building, as muffled noises in the building was carried from upstairs and down halls to heard in our room; neighborhood 'activity' [during late night and early morning hours] exacerbated the noise issue. The room was clean and comfortable; the included breakfast was adequately supplied with a standard starchy fare. The only check-in staff person was robotic, not warmly welcoming, and without personality, but was ultra-concerned with assuring 'wear-a-mask' policy was adhered to by all customers. 😏
So disappointed
It takes a lot for me to write a bad review. Our room was gross. There was hair in my sheets and towels. My daughter's bedspread was crusty. I had blood drops, yes blood, on my bedspread. Went to get new bedding and they didn't have any extras? My kids and I slept only in sheets. The nightstand was sticky. Didn't get any compensation for the inconvenience. The stay was uncomfortable and I paid $100 for it. There should have been some sort of discount after all of that.
Worst Hotel Experience In All My Years As a Business Traveler
Wifi didn't function properly, so I couldn't stay because I was on a work trip and needed wifi. Reported this to the staff and checked out after the first night of my 3 night stay, which my employer prepaid for. There was also blood on the shower curtain, a broken desk leg, and check in took over 30 minutes. I reported the issue with the wifi to the front desk staff immediately after checking in, who denied there was an issue. After checking out the front desk staff wouldn't issue a refund for the remaining two nights, and instead referred me to General Manager Tami Rasmussen-Curley. I reached out to her via phone after check out and did not receive a returned call. Called again two days later and she denied there were any issues with the wifi, and didn't address the other issues. Followed up with an email to her showing photos of the other issues and requesting a refund in writing. She still refused to refund the remaining two unused nights. I escalated the issue to Choice Hotels corporate who said they couldn't force her to refund my stay, but did offer me points as a concession. Very few points. During the investigation by Choice they contacted Tami and her story about my stay changed many times. She asserted that she wouldn't process my refund for various untrue reasons such as: 1.) claiming I never reported this, 2.) claiming I should have reported it within 15 minutes of checking, 3.) claiming I never checked out, 4.) claiming I'd posted false information online (I had merely responded to the auto-generate survey Choice Hotels sent me, which wasn’t posted online), and 5.) claiming there was nothing wrong with their wifi, which there is. Still never addressed the other issues such as the bloody shower curtain, broken desk, and long wait to check in. Choice Hotels corporate was not helpful. They would only offer me enough points to equal one night in value.
Plesantly Suprised
I was very hesitant about this hotel after reading the reviews but I got it on Hotwire so there was no going back. Aside from the long wait at check in, there is nothing negative to say about this hotel. The room was big, clean, and comfortable. I would stay here again.
Last resort
I was trying to be budget friendly but chose the wrong option in this stretch of hotels. (Choose the ones further north not south). Where to begin? I get that the hotel is cheap but if you can't afford repairs in a room don't let customers stay in the room! The door jam was broke as it had obviously been kicked in once. The knob for the air conditioner was broken. A lightbulb of all things, needed replaced over the sink. And yes a strong stench of recreational marijuana. The walls are a bit thin as well. We even tried to check out Breakfast and ended up going to a coffee shop down the road. If you have no choice, this hotel is one of the Choice Brands. It was fairly safe but I wouldn't stay there again.
