Perfect location
Our first visit to Hotel Svizzera, we stayed for 11 nights between July 3:d to the 14:th. Nice small hotel with extremly good locaton more or less direct on the beach at Via Lungomare Small but clean rooms with AC and private shower/wc Very nice and helpful owner/staff Good breakfast, for beeing Italian Good value for money
The most terrible hotel I ever stayed!
Usually, I am not a complainer and if I don't like a service provided, I just do not go back to use them. However, I need to tell you about this hotel. I can't help it. We knew we were running late about 10 or 15 mins of their check out time. We were about to leave a room as soon as my husband was back from getting a cup of coffee. When I was alone packing, all of the sudden, this housekeeping lady walked right into our room by using her own key and started yelling with her anger. I kind of understood what she was saying but I am not a good Italian speaker. I tried to tell her that we will leave soon but she continued screaming. She then brought this owner lady to our room. Again, I didn't need to invite them in since they used their own key anyway. The lady said that we needed to pay the extra charge. Then, she allowed two maintenance men with a tall big ladder to get into our room and they stared working on curtain rails. I am a woman and was so uncomfortable to be with the two middle aged men in the small room alone. I have been in the hospitality business for years and I know how hotels work. I couldn't believe the way they handled the situation and how terribly they treat their customers. Their housekeeping even took our towels we brought from home and said they misplaced them somewhere. Do not use this hotel. There is nothing good thing to talk about them.
Basic hotel, opposite beach, friendly staff
We were placed there by our insurance company so I can't comment on price - value for money. But I can say that the staff we very sensitive to our needs and did everything they could to help us in a difficult few days - for which we were very grateful.
good traditional, familiar hotel (family owned)
If you´re looking for a busy hightech hotel, high tourism, entertainment like all inclusive masstourism you´re definitely wrong at this place. B U T if you look for an traditional, cozy and affectionately managed accomodation you´re ok here. When we arrived, the English spoken frontdesk personal was very friendly. Also was the owner, we met later. As in other comments mentioned, the rooms are not quite new, but they are perfectly clean and equipped with all you need. The price-quality ratio is ok (although because of temporary buildingsite in front of thze house we didnt´t pay the rate which is currently shown on the website). On the other side you have a perfect location just at the promenade in front of the beach. The restaurant inside belongs to the hotel and is also manged by the same staff. There you can have breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is original liguirian cusine and the taste is marvelous - and also here the price-quality ratio is ok. Especially on our last day we learned about the kindness and helpfulness of owner and whole staff. When we want to leave we have to noticed, that on our Harley-Davidson the back tire run flat. We were not able to make the phonecall in Italian language - and staff of repair-shop and breakdown vehicle don´t speak English or German. So the hotel staff organize at first a local mechanic, but he wasn´t able to fit. Then they organized the transportation and repair at a Harley-Dealer 100km away. It took the whole day and we are very thankful for their help. When we return from the dealer we could stay one more night- not the same room, but another quite good one. If we are in this area again, we will come back!
just avoid it
nothing good to say about this place: rundown, poorly maintained and operated, our room was ludicrously small and awfully noisy at night, nothing of what promised at reservation time was there: our car was too big for their parking (and not their parking too small for a family car!), the baby's bed was an additional 10 euro plus 10 more euro for parking at another hotel they had found for us, about 1 km away, at 22 in the night the personnel just leaves the place to their guests, but they will give you a key for the night gate, through the dungeons ... all of this would be ok for 40 eur a night, but definitely not for 120
