This hotel is in a great location, but it is run down and offers very poor service. They talk about their cleanliness on the TV station, but there's no evidence of that anywhere throughout the hotel. We were surprised when we went up to our room to see the bed where it looked like someone had used it and the toilet seat was completely up. When we went down to reception, they said they had a lot of checkouts that day and were very busy. Such a POOR excuse to give to a customer. Said they would send someone up to the room. We were back 2 hours later and it was exactly the same. Couldn't even get a cappuccino in the restaurant.

This hotel is run down. The room has bedspreads with multiple catches/runs. Drawers with crumbs. Shower stall dirty grout. Just awful. How much does it cost for new bread spreads? Also, one outlet for phone charge. Really!! Just yucky

Not the experience I expected from a Westin

The hotel does seem a bit rundown. I'm not sure if it's the impact of being on the Gulf Coast in a hurricane region, but it does need better updates and maintenance. In our group of 6, most had no refrigerator and none had a microwave. Housekeeping visited my room 2-4 times a day, but after the first day, I had no coffee refill. If there is a complimentary coffee, I couldn't find it. It should be somewhere in the lobby, but perhaps that was to drive you to the in-house Starbucks, which I don't drink. The breakfast was very expensive for its meager portions and distance to restaurants requires a vehicle. The beach is small and overwhelmed by jet ski and paddleboard rental. Furnishings are worn and in need of repair or replacement. Internet access was a nightmare. Working in IT, we needed a reliable internet connection to do our work. Over the course of 5 days, we were unable to connect to the "Guest" account and often there was no connection at all available. Elevators are extremely slow and the stairs can't be used to access the floors. The best thing about the stay was the views. Sunrise and sunset were great, since all rooms are above the 6th floor.

Housekeeping

The hotel itself is as I expected, I’ve stayed in many Westins as a Gold member and this was just fine. I was disappointed in housekeeping however. Checked in on Thursday, got regular housekeeping on Friday. I got no housekeeping on Saturday at all. Sunday I requested housekeeping through the app. They responded very quickly. When I did return, my bed was made but the old towels were still in the tub and I got no new towels or coffee replenishment. I then had to request towels. On Monday, I was working in the room and had to the do not disturb sign on the door. My check out was on Tuesday, but housekeeping knocked on my door and asked what time I was going to check out.

Bad experience

I booked the Westin Tampa bay because I wanted a large suite and they offered a 850 square feet suite for which we payed in advance. Upon arrival had to wait over an hour after checking time and was offered a much smaller room a was told that the hotel would contact Expedia to give us a refund of half what we paid Or wait much longer for a suite to be available. At that point we asked to be given that room and then later the suite but they said no so we had to take the much smaller room instead of risking who knows how long to get the suite we had paid for. We hope we get the refund without having to call and write who knows how many times but even if we do our experience is ruined would not recommend or come back to this hotel.
