Perfect Tahiti-Iti waterfront hideaway
If you've ever flown into Tahiti and then driven through Papeete you know that you may be disappointed by the lack of scenery. But if you continue your drive to the very southern part of the island to the peninsula of Tahiti-Iti you will find the true meaning of French Polynesia. This little gem is very much off off-the-beaten-track but a perfect place to spend a few days. You can explore the entire Peninsula from this base. If you can, book yourself into one of the waterfront bungalows that has the perfect deck overlooking the ocean, a very comfortable bed with a mosquito net and doors that open all the way to give you a complete open front on to the ocean. There's no restaurant here but there is a community kitchen that you can put your supplies into in order to make yourself your own coffee tea or whatever you want for breakfast. Each room also has a small refrigerator and a kettle.
Depends on what you are after
Very very basic. Nice guy and all... but shared bathrooms and kitchen that runs brown water. We expected to cook with this ? Room stuffy and old and ugh. But you get what you pay for. Tahiti in general is disgustingly expensive so this place at 70 bucks a night in the US or Canada would be 20 bucks. This location is in a very quiet part of Tahiti off the beaten path. But certainly a bit like camping. Nice grounds .
A week of chilling
We arrived early and were made welcome after being shown we settled in to our room no tv no radio no aircon pure bliss We spent the time in the pool we went shopping at the local supermarkets and eat fresh everyday Well worth the time and money
We would be happy to stay here again. Folks are all very friendly and helpful.
My wife and I enjoyed our 7 nights stay. Gardens nice and well cared for. Beach is small area but nice views of the water, sunsets etc.. We saw several whales on their migration, as they passed by. The bungalows are much better than the smaller cabins. When I was unwell, with a cold, the folks here really took care of me, even bringing me medicines, for which they would accept no payment. This is a place to sit back and relax, as there is not much else to do. A small shop is only a short walk away. To see the island you really need to hire a car, and this can be arranged for you, at a reasonable cost.
Basic accommodation for very basic price
The setting is beautiful, with the well preserved and maintained gardens. The beach is pebbly but swimmable, and the sea is clean. The room we stayed in had one dbl bed, uncomfortable but it was clean. Wifi acceptable. Shower/toilet one to serve about 6 bungalows reminded me of my army days. No water pressure, luke warm water. The garden area made the place, but what do you expect for GBP37 p.n. Convenient base to look around the eastern side of TAHITI. Would never stay there again.
