do not stay here if you won't to go to bed before 2am
we stayed friday and saturday night ..Both nights we could not go too sleep before 230 am because of the loud music for the bar under our room that the hotel rents too.when we made a complaint the staff told us oh well there was nothing they could do about it..They were very rude and could care less !!
Large and comfortable but needs some attention
We were here for 1 night. We rented a double master suite and it was very large and comfortable. The staff was great. The issues are with the cleanliness. There were ALOT of ants (bathrooms, kitchen and on the beds) Dirty dishes in the dishwasher and lipstick stains on the wine glasses in the cabinet. The floor was so dirty we wore shoes the entire time. Many dining and bar options within walking distance. The view of the lake is gorgeous.
One of the worst places I’ve ever stayed.
Dirty walls, stained lampshade, lumpy beds, dark and dingy hallways. Staff not wearing masks. The place was mostly deserted. And it was expensive- $165 with taxes for 1 night! We were given breakfast coupons for a nearby restaurant (also deserted save for us and a couple of workers) and when we arrived, we were shown a small buffet (a no no during Covid) with paper plates. The young lady who greeted us told us she’d bring our drinks to us and as she was telling us this, she is wiping her unmasked nose with the back of her bare hand. We left and got our coffee at Starbucks. This place really deserves negative stars but unfortunately I’m forced to give it one.
Room with a view in a modest resort at a reasonable price. Skip included breakfast.
This place consists of three buildings on Lake Mt. Dora in Tavares, FL, which is a short drive from Mt. Dora. For couples I recommend the corner rooms with kings and a top floor. We were in building 3; building one probably has the most "unobstructed views." I feel most rooms will give you views of the lake, it is difficult NOT to see the lake. We did the corner king and it included a balcony. The room was ENORMOUS...you walk in and first there is a LARGE closet that one could put a bed into, then a large bathroom with a normal tub, then a small kitchenette equipped with a small fridge, microwave, coffee pot on a countertop with a sink and cabinet space (no dishes/silverware). We had a small table with two chairs in front of a three window space which gave views of the lake and the town. The bed, then two soft chairs before you get to the balcony outside. There is a good sized flat screen tv anchored to the wall with an arm that allows it to pivot, so it can be viewed from anywhere in the room. Really a very comfortable space overall. The room had a fresh coat of paint, but the furniture and fixtures were obviously not new. The bed was fine, not bad, but we're spoiled by our bed at home. We were fortunate in that literally there was almost NOBODY else staying, so it is hard to say how the property would be during a busy time. We really loved the balcony and enjoyed the sunset with a cocktail on it. You may purchase a drink from the bars downtown and take it with you to your room. There are four casual bar/restaurants right there where the resort is, I don't recommend any of them. All four were filled with loud "locals" and just not our scene. We instead went over to Mt. Dora to eat. The only place I might consider in Tavares, was an Irish place 2 blocks from the Key West Resort. The place was a bit classier than the 4 places right were the resort is. There is a pool, it's nice that it overlooks the lake. The property itself could use a bit more attention. We found broken tiles in the pool and the roof of the building we stayed in was accessible and had old dog poop all over it. The views from the roof are nice, the dog poop is not. You receive a voucher for breakfast at Shiners, which is located in building 2. It's a "buffet." The coffee was fine, but the rest of it was terrible. Honestly I don't understand why the hotel would waste money for such a poor lay out. I mention the coffee is good, because we were NOT a fan of the coffee provided in the room with the coffee pot. Lastly, Tavares itself is "not into masking" from what we observed. The front desk people did not mask and went so far as to explain to us (we had on our masks, because we believe in science and the existence of airborne disease and have an understanding as to how communicable diseases work) that most places and people in the area don't, so we didn't have to. Mt. Dora I will say is taking the masking more seriously, which is where we went to dine and visit during our time at the resort.
Girls weekend!
The hotel was the perfect location for a girl’s weekend. There is so much to do in walking distance. The pool was the perfect hangout spot and is so big with enough space to social distance. The rooms are incredibly spacious and have the most amazing views, There is no better way to wake up then looking out onto the lake from the massive windows that wrap the room. Will definitely be back soon!
