Perfect stay!
I’m so glad I didn’t listen to the negative reviews. My boyfriend and I came with a dive group who planned where we stayed. Since I didn’t pick the place I checked out Trip Advisor reviews and was nervous after reading some of the less than stellar reviews. Once we arrived I was immediately put at ease. The place is beautiful! The property is well maintained and clean. Check-in at the gate and at the desk was smooth sailing. I had called the day before to check we were registered. Any seasoned traveler knows to do this, as it helps eliminate any problems at the time of check-in. When we got to our room I was blown away. It was immaculate, beautifully decorated and extremely clean. We were so impressed!! Then the bad news, our dive trip was canceled due to high winds. We made the decision to grab some pool towels and head to the pool. If you can’t dive, the pool and pool bar is not a bad alternative. Again, the pool and it’s facilities were great! We had so much fun. The bartender at the pool bar was often missing because she was also delivering food. But she made up for it in personality. She was pleasant, friendly, and fun. She had such a good attitude even with the stress of being busy. From the location, property, rooms, and pool - it was worth every penny! We will be going back again either to dive or just to getaway. So glad we gave this place a chance! The staff and property manager really care that their guests have a wonderful experience.
Fleas
I got home and a day later I began developing flea bites. I have bites all over my lower body and they’re extremely itchy. It’s miserable. Also, the pictures make the place look better than it is. It’s mostly run down and the one good thing was the pool, which had a lot of people because the beach is very small.
Stay away!
This place is disgusting! We weren't even there an hour and was on the phone with our travel agent and headed to another location. We spent $700 for 1 night accommodations at another property just to get away from here. It is filthy and NOT as described. The pictures posted of this property are very deceiving and the smell of ammonia from all the ferel cats is awful. When we arrived I walked into the bathroom and there was a giant pubic hair ball stuck to the shower wall. The floors had black filth along the baseboards. The refrigerator was rusted down the door. The lobby, bar and restaurant are located in the same space. There is NOT a restaurant here. There is a bar area that had a menu with 5 items on it. The beach is very small and the only views you have are of the mangroves with a bunch of black and white ferel cats that long term residents feed. We had 2 rooms booked and they were both in the same condition.
Not what expected
Booked through phone service listed on website specifically requesting 2 twin beds and king bed. Showed up to room and received a full bed and king. The front desk was unwilling to change and offer alternative solution. Once in room had minimal cookware and linens. Floors were dirty. The furnace filter appeared never have been changed as there was dust bunnies hanging from the ceiling and at tops of furniture. The sheets appeared to be minimally cleaned. We notified the front office of other minor issues and they didn’t apologize or offer to fix. Now for their saving grace, grounds were kept up very well. The flowers made the entire area smell great. The pool was large enough to space out. The front security always had a smile and made it secure.
Great rooms and awesome views
Our room was beautiful and the ocean views were amazing! However, the restaurant needs some serious attention. It’s in a perfect location, but the staff was less than helpful. We, and several other family members, tried to eat there a couple times during our stay but were either ignored or told that they were out of food due to an early “rush.” Although, we spent several days at the resort and they were never busy. We heard several other Residents complaining about it as well. This did not impact our stay at all, we still really liked the resort but they could do so much with that beautiful location and it’s just a shame they don’t.
