Misleading practices - buyer beware
Booked a "junior suite with a balcony, view and A/C" on Hotels.com. Upon arrival, hotel staff leads us to a room that is next to the pool, has *no* windows (at all) and no AC. Inquire about it and staff explains that "whatever you select at Hotels.com is subject to availability". Took quite a bit of effort (and a threat of canceling/moving out) to get them to work out a room exchange. We got a room on the 1st floor, with a balcony, a half-decent view and still no AC. However, being a 1st floor, it is right above a roof of a house behind the hotel, which dubs as a makeshift trash dumping area. Still not even close to what was advertised on Hotels.com and what we paid for. Fortunately, weather was good to stay AC-less. Hotel common areas are nicely designed, and views are certainly great (if you get one). But as a hotel it is at most mediocre. Tired and unclean bathroom, shabby furniture. Dirty smelly coffemaker. If you plan to stay here - make sure you check ahead of time to actually get the room you paid for, least you end up locked in the storage closet.
Good location and views but...
Indeed the location is near the “Zocalo” (7-8 minute walk) and the views of the city on the mountain is great. The housekeepers were also great. Also the staff is friendly and the folks at the desk were very helpful for going on daily excursions with the inexpensive white “combi’s” that are everywhere. On the negative side, I was surprised that there was neither heat nor a/c in the room. Only a ceiling fan. Also, water from the shower was either too hot or not at all. That happened 2 out of the 4 days. The pool is really a big bathtub as it’s only about 12 feet long with stairs at one end, and very cold even though it’s advertised as heated. The biggest gripe was the daily breakfast. It just seemed like they nickel and dime you for anything not basic. A croissant or roll costs extra. Water is extra. Any juice beyond the 7 ounce glass is extra. You get the picture. You can order a small plate of fruit OR a juice but not both! The portion of mashed beans was sized for a child. I myself am fit & trim, so not a big eater, yet it was still too small a portion for me. Howard S.
100% recommended
Great location! The hotel is just minutes away from Zocalo and there are many great options for restaurants and shopping places nearby. Room views are simply stunning and some rooms have balconies where you can relax and enjoy a fine cup of coffee (there's a coffee machine in each room and coffee is replenished every day). Staff is very professional and friendly; they made our stay easy and very relaxing. I'd also recommend trying out the restaurant "Rosa Mexicano" which is located right upstairs of the lobby. Food is very authentic and the mole rosa is one of the best I've ever had. There's no doubt I would choose Pueblo Lindo again for my stay next time I visit Taxco!
Met our Requirements
Good location close to the zocalo and the Costaline bus terminal. Rooms on many levels (not handicap accessible). Friendly staff, easy check in (limited English). Booked a master suite, king bed via the hotel site. Received two doubles on the lowest level with a small deck (104), no direct view to the church. Asked to be reassigned but the room offered was less desirable. Good room amenities - card door entry, Wi-Fi, fridge, microwave, coffee maker, safe, shower no tub, no air conditioning (ceiling fan), TV, no English channels. There is a restaurant on the premise that is separate management from the hotel. The hotel met our requirements, would stay here again.
Simply beautiful
Taxco is a small town and we booked two rooms for one night. Centrally located-10 minute walk to the zocalo. Staff is extremely helpful and rooms are clean. The view of our rooms was magical, especially at night when all the lights of the town sparkle. Rooms were equipped with an eating area, microwave, and refrigerator. Would DEFINITELY stay here again!
