Wonderful place to recharge on the Camino
Casa Grande was the perfect place for our group to stop and relax as we finished our hike. The old stone villa is charming and comfortable. We experienced such warm hospitality, and Carlos and Tania prepared lovely meals with nice wines for us on both nights. The weather was too cool for swimming, but the pool was a great place to soak our legs after hiking. Lots of room to spread out and chill out, then regroup for games and talking after dinner. Fun place!
Charming place but out of the way!
A lovely couple run this place, very helpful. It is full of really quirky vintage decorative knick knacks. The food was delicious and they served us early which was great as we were tired. It was raining and cold when I was there, I think it would be great in the summer or hot weather.
Portuguese Camino
This was our last stop before walking into Santiago de Compostela, having started in Porto. My only regret about this stay was that we only stayed one night. It is a rural setting and so very relaxing. Fortunately we arrived a little early so we had more time to enjoy the wonderful setting. Carlos and Tanya (spelling?) were our hosts. They operate this hotel including the preparation of the meals. I knew I was going to enjoy my stay when while lying in the hammock Tanya came out with wine and glasses and served some tasty wine, and we hadn’t even ordered it. And to make matters even better, she returned periodically to refresh the pours. They both went all out to make it very pleasant and memorable stay. We stayed in 16 hotels on our Camino journey and this one ranks at the very top.
Why can't every country Inn be this special?
Lovely spot easily accessible to the Portuguese CmINO. Grounds are relaxing and so pretty--great pool if the weather allows. SO much space to relax including a surprising actual library and of course two comfortable living rooms set in this beautifully restored country home. wonderful attention to detail in the poetry and art collections Lovely young couple are your hosts--this is their home and exactly what a rural house should be! We would stay again and perhaps hike multiple part of the Camino from here--no need to move around. And excellent English for those of us struggling wit our Spanish.
Beautiful hotel with very friendly hosts!
This hotel is a pleasure to be! Very beautiful building with nice rooms (we had room 4 which is really fantastic!). Nice swimming pool, good breakfast, very luxurious sitting room and library, and the hosts Carlos and Tania were really very nice and professional. We had dinner twice and also that was very good. Close to Santiago in a very quiet rural environment. I can recommend this to everyone!!
