HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE; Bugs and flooded room?
Let me start by saying that I am a Marriott Bonvoy member and have stayed at dozens of Marriott hotels and spent thousands of dollars at their properties. So, this is by no means just a random review to trash Marriott. I love their brand and hotels, but this property does not live up to the Marriott standard that I'm accustomed to, at all! I wish I would've read some of the other recent reviews for this property, prior to booking. Multiple complaints about weird smells in the rooms, is possibly due to black mold. I had a horrible experience and would not reccomend this hotel to anyone. The first room I checked into had bugs crawling on the bed, so they moved me to a second room that seemed to have been recently flooded and had what appeared to be black mold growing on the wall. During this Coronavirus pandemic, Marriott boasts about all of the extra cleaning measures they have in place for the safety of their guests, but I seriously question how serious they take the safety of their guests at this location. I emailed the GM of the property and will just paste a portion of my email below, to share with readers: Myisha, I am taking time to express my frustration to you concerning my experience at your property, the Fairfield by Marriott Texas City location. We had a room booked for three nights during the Labor Day Weekend, checking in tonight (09/04/2020) and checking out Monday morning (09/07/2020.) We checked into room 214 this evening. When we entered the room, we noticed something crawling on the bed. There were ants crawling all over two of the pillows. I called down to the front desk and requested to be moved to a different room. We were moved to room 314. Once settled in this room, I walked over to the a.c. unit by the window to look at the temperature setting, and my feet got wet. The entire carpet from the window to the side of the bed was SOAKED, and there was what appeared to be black mold on the wall, next to the window. While I would expect extra cleaning and safety measures would be in place during the pandemic we're in, I am completely stunned that we would be offered two rooms, both with significant issues. I called Marriott Customer Care and requested to be moved to a different property.
Great Hospitality!!
Well from the beginning my stay was pleasant!! I was greeted by Sierra who was very professional, kind And personable and stated “Mr. Collins we’ve been waiting on your arrival. I felt the love right away. There was an issue my room but she immediately took care of me family and moved us to another room. With everything going on with Covid-19, The staff at the location to include Myisha, Reba, Eric, Mr. David, Eric and Yaralitzy went above and beyond to inform us of the precious measures which are completed to assure to help minimize or prevent us from being affected. The love and hospitality given to my family and I was phenomenal!! We were able to obtain fresh towels daily although I chose to forego daily room service to receive my award points. This is a place close to everything, only 20 minutes away from Galveston beach and less than 10 from the Tanger shopping Outlet!! Marriott has truly hired a great team to take care of their facility and customers!! Thank you for making our stay a positive and memorable experience. God bless you all from the Collins Family!!
One night stay
Hotel is very dated. Room showed ceiling water damage in bathroom and by window corner. Outside road noise was consistent. Breakfast was good. Decided to go to another hotel for rest of my stay in the Galveston area.
Weekend Getaway
My Husband and I love to take little quick weekend getaways and decided to spend the weekend in Galveston enjoying Moody Garden's Festival of Lights. I didn't find any reasonable hotel offers that I was satisfied with except this one. It's right off the freeway and 15 minutes away from Moody Gardens. The beds are comfortable and the room and bathroom were clean. There was a hot breakfast buffet every morning and that's ok in my book. When visiting Galveston again, we will definitely stay here again.
Good for an overnight stay
We got a room with two queen beds for an overnight stay. We chose this place since it was very close to the magical winter lights. Room was compact but clean and the beds were comfortable. Bathroom looked average. Complimentary breakfast and a good spread than expected. Front desk staff were not that friendly.
