DISGUSTING
When we entered the room it smelled like an ashtray that had not been emptied in a long time. They gave us a different room that didnt smell quite as bad but it wasnt great. Went to use the bathroom and there was only one roll of toilet paper and it was almost gone so went to call the front desk and the phone didn't work. The beds look like they hadn't been made and the carpets were nasty and kind of had an odor to them that wasn't nice. They advertised a restaurant which was closed too. The place was totally disgusting in our opinion & we will never recommend it to anyone. Actually we had made reservations and couldn't get a refund so had no choice but to stay there but will NEVER return. It was very outdated but could of been better maintained. We usually stay in Best Westerns but the one in that city was booked so had no choice but to stay at the Shilo Inns.
Probably My First Terrible Rating
Cleanliness: average Bed quality: The bed was not good for two people as each time the other person got in and out the bed shook. Definite motion sickness potential. Reception friendliness/treats: Pleasant enough Furnishing quality: older - very musty smell in room but window opened so we aired everything. Smell was coming form AC because we turned it on at night and all got musty again. Internet: Constantly slowed down and dropped Charging: Had to unplug table lamp to get to wall outlet - nothing on nightstands. Elevator: No Noise level: Quiet Breakfast: Cold Items only Other: Really big TV but the screen locked up twice on us. Told they have a problem the “technician” knows about but hasn’t fixed…
Probalby the Best Motel in Tillamook
I'd consider this an adequate motel for a small coastal town. It had everything I needed in the room with a fridge, coffee maker and microwave (albeit old). Lots of pillows on the bed. They do offer a continent breakfast (nothing hot) but I did not partake in that. There is no real desk in the room which I needed as a business traveler. A big, newer couch was in the room too. I did not like the shower - it was stuck in full on massage pounding mode - not good for rinsing shampoo from your hair. Loved that they had tea in the room, though on my second day - having used all my tea bags, they only left me 3 decaf tea bags. We need caffeine too. Plenty of parking and it's a attached to a gas station convenience store - so it's easy to get snacks. Room doors open with big keys (which they'd been a keyring so as not to lose it) and you must turn in the key or be charge $25.
You get what you pay for.
We go south down the Oregon Coast to visit my Parents in Florence, OR and this has been one of the hotels we have enjoyed in the past. No longer, the hotal is starting to need a lot of repairs and the internet does not hook up easy. We have a deep understanding of the internet but we had a hard time hooking up to the signal.
Pleasantly surprised
Hotel better than expected. Rooms were large and clean. Reception staff were friendly and efficient (Susan and Melissa?). I'd have no hesitation in booking again. The only negative for me was the laundry... I prefer a laundry within the hotel and not a public one in the adjoining petrol station/store. We were given complimentary "breakfast", which in reality was cereal bars, trail mix, muffins (all in packs). However, as we weren't expecting anything, it wasn't an issue.
