Great stay
Good rooms, spacious, up to date, warming, i liked it. Overall good hotel for one that once had so much oil traffic through it. Hard on the hotel but it is still up to date and is good and warming. Suggest it
Great place and best prices in town.
This hotel is conveniently located in the heart of oil country. So I was expecting rates to be sky high, but that wasn't the case. I called around town and Black Gold is the least expensive place in town. -The staff is very friendly -Out room was very clean -Boot covers for the working men and women to keep the mud out. -Convenient location -Nice kitchenette with full size fridge and stove top We will definitely stay here again.
Convenient
I stayed here one night while in Tioga on business. The rates are high, but you are paying for the location in the heart of the oil boom. This is a new hotel. I've been coming to the area for years, even before the oil boom, and used to have to drive all the way back to Williston or Minot for a decent place to stay. The convenience of now being able to have a nice room in Tioga is wonderful. The room itself was nice, but pretty basic. Not really what you would expect for the price, but again you're paying for location. It was very clean, except for some stains on the carpet from someone's dirty boots. Hard to avoid that in oil country. My biggest complaint is that is was missing some very basic amenities- no Kleenex and no hairdryer. The room had a very nice kitchen with a large refrigerator, microwave and stovetop. The hotel breakfast was average.
Nice hotel, rates are HORRIBLE!
I stayed at this hotel for more than 75 days, 10 in July/August, and more than 65 days in October and November. This hotel is the only game in town, so they exploit that by charging outrageous rates. They offer no decent discount points or any sort of perks for continued stay. They are taking advantage of the oil boom, which is deplorable. The rooms are a bit small, but have a nice bed, flat screen TV, furnished kitchenette and full size refrigerator. The reception and management staff were all great, but the cleaning staff wasn't. My cleaning person had to be reminded to leave towels, tissue, and to sweep the floors. If you stay more than two days, they clean your room every other day. The breakfast was pretty drab, but they did consider that their guests were working and began breakfast very early to accommodate us. The hotel is great, but gouging the very people that keep their doors open is NOT ok.
Good quality, absurd rates
New hotel built in 2011-2012. I stayed for 12 nights for work, and I would say that the quality of the rooms from the comfortable bed, to the flat-screen TV, and to the kitchenette (cooking supplies included,) that the rooms are very nice. I also appreciated and was fairly impressed by their daily continental breakfasts as well as with their service which was always helpful, courteous and professional I was disappointed by the high rates that they charge and that they do not have a fitness center or pool, which I believe would help better justify the extremely high rates that they charge.
