Ideal place to stay in Tokyo
Nui is the perfect place to stay in Tokyo. Easy access to the tube and trains, helpful staff, and the rooms and bathrooms are outstanding. The café/bar makes it easy to meet other travellers and locals in a friendly atmosphere, and the homemade infused gins were a real treat! I’ll definitely be staying at Nui again next time I’m in Tokyo, and highly recommend it.
DO NOT RENT THE PRIVATE ROOM
The private room is VERY small, with a concrete floor and an old wooden desk. Worse than most prison cells, I think. See pic (the hastily made bed was our fault, but you can see the room). The tragedy of it is, there are many budget hotels nearby that give you a MUCH better, modern room for less money (eg. Hotel Hokke Club). We paid around 9700 Yen for the private room here, and Hotel Hokke Club (where we moved to) was around 7500. I'm posting this review to save others making the mistake of staying in the private room here. The hostel staff are really nice and helpful, their downstairs is nice, we didn't see the dorm room, but as stated DO NOT RENT THE PRIVATE ROOM, you will regret it (we simply couldn't stay our whole time there, our booking was non-refundable through Expedia, and we ended up having to pay for the other hotel for most of our nights).
Like this hostel so much, with a open lobby and bar at 1st floor, and a beautiful big kitchen and lounge on the 6th. Its location is good, convenient and close to metro station. Too bad couldn’t have stayed more days here.
friendly and fun!
This was my first hostel experience, but I didn't need to worry - Nui was great! Situated in a quiet neighborhood, I felt extremely safe making the short walk to and from the metro station (as well as the nearest 7/11!). My friend and I stayed in an all female dorm room, but the curtains around the beds made things feel private. The bathrooms were clean, and I loved the convenience of having a cafe and bar on the ground floor. There was also a private lounge and kitchen for guests, which was nice when I wanted a little quiet time. We were able to store our luggage after check out until it was time to leave, and when we unfortunately missed the train to the airport, the staff member working at the front desk very kindly called us a cab and then translated our destination to the driver! Definitely hope to return.
Perfect for relaxed stay
I stayed in a double room which was very comfortable. It was slightly cold in the evenings, but nothing that impacted my experience and I did stay between Feb–March. The downstairs cafe & bar area is super nice – really relaxed and friendly with big smiles whenever you visit. A good variety of food and drinks are on offer and at a good standard for a hostel. The place is really good value and I've recommended it to numerous friends since staying there.
