Not for me
The hotel staff was nice, but the room accommodation was weird making the whole room feel stuffy. The hotel lacked a do not disturb sign and most mornings the room keeper would wake us up and be a bit rude about us staying a bit late, like 9:30- 10 am in the room. The whole key thing wasn’t for me either, I’m not a fan of having to leave the key in the hotel lobby. It’s near a train station and a bakery.

Clean and Compact Hotel near JR Station
We chose this hotel primarily because it is directly across the JR Ryogoku Station. The Oedo Line Subway Ryogoku is a bit farther, about 8 mins walk. The area is a bit quieter than the busy Akihabara or Asakusa area. You can hear the train sound from the hotel room, especially from the rooms facing the JR station, but it wasn't too loud or annoying for us. The room itself is really compact, there isn't much space to move around but cozy. There were 4 of us (all adults) and we have 4 beds (3 single beds and 1 sofa bed). Kinda hard to walk between the furniture (which are only the beds, a table with water kettle, coffee, and tea, a small table to put stuff, and then the long table for the tv and more stuff. The bathroom is nice and clean. The toilet is standard like you can find everywhere in Japan and you have a bathtub. It can be quite humid after a hot shower because I don't think there is a ventilation system or maybe it just broke. We can sleep well though. The staff, although doesn't speak much english, is really helpful and friendly. The breakfast food is overall tasty and there is a lot of variety of food. Mostly in japanese style like tamagoyaki, miso soup, saba (mackerel), and the special chanko nabe (sumo stew). You can also choose the western like potatoes, hams, and sausages. There are also cereal, fruits, salads, and wide selection of coffee from the coffee maker. There are many restaurants and cafes in the hotel's proximity from Marugame Seinen, local restaurants that sell sushi, katsudon, and even there is a cafe near the entrance of the hotel. Last but not least there is also a FamilyMart near the hotel. Overall this hotel is the perfect choice if you want an affordable one that is close to the train station. Will definitely choose to stay here again if we come back here someday.
Clean and Convenient
Located next to JR Ryogoku station. Convenient though subsequent train noise. Also 10 minute walk to Ryogoku Oedo subway line which is a circle line hence easy to get back to from most tourist destinations. 15 minute walk to one of the Sumida river cruise starting points. Room rather on small side but perfectly adequate and breakfast a good mixture of Western and Japanese cuisine. Numerous small restaurants in the vicinity .
It does what it says on the tin
Right next door to Ryogoku station and the sumo arena. It takes only about ten minutes to get back to Tokyo station via Akihabara. Clean and tidy hotel, fridge, safe and very polite and welcoming reception staff. They have a Chinese restaurant and breakfast facility but we did not use this. Plenty of restaurants nearby including a McDonalds if you are that way inclined. Not the prettiest of districts but if your looking for a clean and affordable hotel with local facilities and easy links to the train network then this is perfect.
